Who am I to say I love you when you're not even mine?
Who am I to promise you forever when I'm not even in time's favour?—g.s.

Who am I to say I love you when you're not even mine?
When I didn't walk your shoes, didn't breathe your air?
When I haven't seen you in your darkest time, yet to discover your deepest secret?
Who am I to promise you forever when I'm not even in time's favour?
When I don't have the courage nor the power to see into the future?
When I'm not immune to destiny, gods, and all the mysteries of the universe?
Who am I but a starry-eyed romantic,
betting on her last ray of light,
hoping,
begging,
finger crossing,
that somehow you don't call my bluff,
all my desperate bluffs,
to make us happen?—g.s.
