General  POV

Neal saw the new person and his heart stopped. The one person he thought was dead and he mourned was standing right in front of him.

"Kate?"

"Hi, Neal. We need to talk."

Neal glared at his once lover. "Just let me go. I don't care what you have to say."

Kate looked over her shoulder and motioned to something. A little kid, about 5 ran over to Kate. The little boy had a little limp, maybe from past injury.

"Like I said, Neal. We need to talk. Dom, can you excuse us, please?" Without words, Dominic left.

When he was out the door, Kate turned her head back to Neal. She sat down with the child in her lap. "This isn't your child, if that is what you're thinking. I found him while I was... gone."

Neal didn't want to hear anything she had to say. He just wanted to get back to Peter. "What can be so important that you have to lie to me?" Neal was beyond mad.

"You wouldn't have believed me if I didn't say Peter was dead," Kate said as she stoked the child's head.

"Try me," Neal baited.

"Peter is innocent in all this. It's actually the person he works for. Hues was the one that did all this to me. To us."

Neal was still trying wrap his head around Kate being alive and now this. It was all too much. "I have evidence but I wanted to talk to you." Kate paused her speech to work her emotions down. "I had to bring you here so I could get you far away from the FBI. I lied to you for this reaction. You done it before with me and I knew I had to stage it with Peter."

Neal looked at her in disgust. If it was any other situation, he would applaud her wickedness. "You never died in that explosion. I went back to prison because of you!" Neal was loosing his cool and his voice was shaking as the memories flooded him.

"Hues ordered the whole thing. He waited for you to get close enough to see the picture and then blow it up."

Neal's brows came together in confusion. "Why? Why would he go though all this?"

Kate shrugged. "I still haven't figured it all out. I think it was to control you even farther."

Neal shook his head. "It still doesn't explain what anything has to do with this."

Kate picked up the child and faced him to Neal. "Elizabeth and I talked. She told me everything she knew about Hues and kept me updated on you. This boy," she said as she motioned to him, "is Elizabeth's son. Hues didn't want Peter compromised by a child so he took it from them. I found him and I've been taking care of him. I plan on giving him back to Elizabeth when everything is over."

Neal looked closer at the child. He did look like Elizabeth and Peter. He had Peter's hair but Elizabeth's eyes. "Name?"

"Christopher Burke. He's turning 6 in a week."
