General POV
"The whole thing started right after you were arrested. I wasn't in their files except as the person you ran with. I was supposed to be left alone. They had nothing one me." Kate traced the edged of the glass. She was having a hard time finding her words. She went over this story many times to herself but now that she had to explain it, she just couldn't.
"You quit seeing me in prison because El had a baby?" Kate nodded.
"She was threatened by Hues and she knew I was still talking to you. She had to hid it and it wasn't easy. She could call me crying at nights when Peter was working late. I ALWAYS went to see her at work."
Neal took her hand off the glass and pulled it into his own. He left his thumb trace over it.
"I... I had to leave. Elizabeth had the child and gave him to me. She wanted me to give Christopher a life away from Hues. He wanted her to abort him but Elizabeth... she just couldn't." Kate looked over to Neal's bed was. The child was still there, sleeping peacefully.
"I did as she asked and promised her that I would have this all figured out before he turns seven. I don't want to wait anymore. I want everything back to how it was before. I want us. I want Liz to have her son and Peter to meet Christopher. I want Hues to pay but I need your help."
Neal listened as Kate yelled but in a hushed tone. This subject was very touchy for her. After living with a child, raising him from a baby till now, Neal understood why she is the way she is. That little boy was her everything.
"I'll help you. I just have to talk to Peter and Elizabeth. I lied to him today and I feel bad about it but this can't get out. We keep it to ourselves and figure out a plan before-"
The door busted open and in stormed an angry Peter. "You con-artist. You lied to me." Peter pointed his finger at Neal and then looked across from Neal. Peter's finger dropped and he backed up. He looked like he saw a ghost.
"Kate? H-how?"
Kate wasn't paying Peter any mind. The little child that was asleep not seconds ago was now awake and he was walking into view. Kate pushed her chair back and went to Christopher. He held his arms up for her and she picked him up. She felt his head, it was still a little warm, and held him in her arms.
Elizabeth walked inside with June. June was carrying cookies and Elizabeth stopped right in her tracks. "Kate? Chris?" Elizabeth ran over to them and hugged them both.
Neal and Peter were in their own little argument to notice Elizabeth and Kate. Peter already saw the child and Kate and he was yelling at Neal for not telling him about a child.
"Peter. The kid isn't mine."
"Whose is it then?"
Neal pointed over to where Kate was when he saw Elizabeth pull the child into her arms. She was sobbing once again. Peter followed Neal's finger and froze.
