General POV
Kate sat down at the kitchen table with Neal right beside her. Kate explained into great detail about Hues and his evil plan. All the while, Peter met his 6 year old son.
Kate saw Neal looking over at Peter and Elizabeth with a look she never saw on his face. It was a new emotion that, in all the years they were together, never seen.
Neal was never a jealous person. He may have been a con man, but he was kind hearted. This look wasn't that of jealousy. It was close to it but it wasn't.
Kate recalled a time when they were young and talked about kids. Neal always wanted a family. To belong. To feel love and give it. He wanted a boy and a girl. One tiny Neal and one small Kate.
But that was a long time ago.
Many enemy's ago.
Many sleepless nights and aggravating days ago.
It was all a distant memory that Kate wished would be reborn. Her being his and Neal being hers.
Kate watched Neal's facial expression change as he saw Christopher hug Peter and Peter hugging him back very tightly. Elizabeth also had tears in her eyes.
Kate turned her head away as Neal turned to face her. He looked into her eyes and she saw raw emotions almost spilling over his eye lids. He wiped them away and grabbed a notepad.
"Let's get to work. We need motive, a timeline, and a plan." Neal looked over his shoulder at the family. "This has to be flawless. For them."
"For them," Kate agreed.
*I know how I want to end this. I'm still working on the next few pieces so expect many updates*
