General POV

Kate tossed Neal the key for him to unlock his cage. Neal was still very cautious around her but still unlocked his holding cell. Neal backed away from the cage and sat back down on the floor to the cell.

"Neal, I want you to know that I never ment to hurt you. I was going to meet up with you later, once it was all figured out, but then Hues and then the plane, I just couldn't see you or tell you."

Neal didn't know what to say. All those nights he prayed to a god he wasn't sure existed and wishing upon all the stars he could see that Kate was alive and would come back to him was completely different than how he imagined it.

"Neal. I know you're mad at me but please see my side to it. I wasn't given a choice and then the thing with Christopher, I had to. I promised Elizabeth I would protect him and figure this out."

Neal understood that part but there were still things that didn't help him get over being betrayed.

"Can I go see Peter. I... I have to see him in person," Neal pleaded.

Kate nodded and stood up. Christopher slid off her lap and ran over to his little table with toys. Neal walked out of the cell and stood in front of Kate. Kate looked up into his blue eyes and all the emotions she buried away with the commitment she made 6 years ago. Without another thought, Kate wrapped her arms around Neal.

Neal stayed stiff until he smelled the familiar scent of lavender. The smell brought back many times when they got done with a job and they would just hold each other. Neal hugged her tightly back and then pulled back.

"I'm going to see Peter and then go back to my place. I'll be there later tonight." With that, Neal left the building. He wanted to take the longest route to Peter but decided to make 100% sure he was okay and then solve the rest of the newly formed problem.
