CH. 3 What was I thinking?
(Anthony POV)
I could feel her staring at me, and I didn't have to take my eyes off the road to be able to tell that she was staring.
I pulled onto the highway, and she noticed that. She became alert and started to freak out.
"Where are you taking me? Just let me go. Listen, I don't care about some sick fantasy you have going around about me, but you need to let me go. I have people who will be worried about me." She said, but it sounded as if she doubted her own words for some reason.
"I can't let you go," I say softly.
I almost hoped she missed the words that came out of my mouth, but she didn't.
"Yes, you can. It's easy. Pull the car over. Take the handcuffs off of me and drive away. That's letting me go." She said. I turned to look at her and turned my attention back to the road.
"You know, I never thought you would be this way," I said, not imagining her personality to be the way that it was right now.
I don't know what I thought. I just expected Aimee to be a little sweet. Maybe I let my imagination take over too much on how I imagine her.
"Excuse me? How am I supposed to be? I've just been kidnapped by a weirdo who kept staring at me every day in a cafe. I should have been worried from the first day I felt your stare." She said.
So she felt my stares?
I felt like a stalker, and the thought didn't even lighten anything up.
After all, I did end up abducting the woman who I'd been admiring.
How do I tell her the stares were not creepy but because I was admiring her from afar? She would think I was a freak.
She already thinks I'm weird.
"I'm not a weirdo," I said, feeling myself getting insulted by the word.
It was fine hearing that from other people, but hearing it come from her. The woman who I've had a crush on just felt hurtful.
But maybe she was right, and my actions prove what she said to be true.
I am a weirdo.
"Okay. Please let me go." She said.
I looked outside to see it was snowing.
"I can't do that, we're already a good amount of miles from the exit, and it's going to snow badly. If I let you out, you might freeze to death. I can't let that happen to you." I said as I felt her staring at me.
"Why. Why did you even take me!!!! I've done nothing to you. Why are you doing this?" She asked in a hurtful voice.
My heart clenched again. I tighten my hand on the stirring wheel.
When you like someone, it hurts you to hear a sad tone to their voice.
The fact that I didn't deserve to like someone like her, that I did deserve to feel bad at this moment, made it worse.
"I'm sorry, I wasn't planning it, and I know you won't believe me when I say that, but I wasn't planning on taking you. It just happened. It's just my mother told everyone I would bring my girlfriend over for the holidays." I said, lousy.
I glanced at her; she was staring at me with no emotions on her face. It was as if she cast them away. Her facial expression was emotionless.
I went back to staring at the road ahead of me because I was not too fond of how she was staring at me. I felt like she was analyzing me. She was trying to figure me out.
