CH. 5 The Key
(Anthony POV)
I looked at her, and I couldn't believe that she had agreed to be my girlfriend.
My pretend girlfriend... Don't get too excited, Anthony, don't forget that this is acting.
But it didn't matter right now, and the fact is that I never had a girlfriend or even a pretend one.
The fact that I have one now made me giddy, even if it was only for the holidays.
Part of me knew that she and I were from two different worlds.
I let out a sigh, realizing that it was true, but now we have an opportunity to know each other.
I was going to take that chance.
"So, what's your favorite food?" I asked. She turned and stared at me with a monotone facial expression as if she couldn't believe I was asking her such a question.
"You know. I was serious about it before. Us getting to know each other and all." I said. She raised a brow.
"For the plan, of course," I said, but I didn't mean it. I honestly really wanted to get to know her.
Hell, I wanted to get to know her the minute I laid eyes on her.
Of course, I wasn't going to voice that. She already thought I was a weirdo after all. I don't want her to start thinking I'm a super freak.
"Okay." She said, causing my eyes to widen. I smiled.
I've been doing that a lot. It started just an hour ago.
The smiling, that is.
"Well, my favorite food is chicken. I like it oven-baked or fried. I like it on my pizza, in a sandwich and all of that, I suppose. It's just my favorite food. What's yours?" She asked me, and I thought she wouldn't bother to join in the conversation for some reason. I thought she actually wouldn't bother asking me questions.
"I like pizza, and I find myself eating it a lot. Especially when I'm working on a project and don't have time to cook. I usually order a pizza from my favorite pizza place, and they know exactly how I like it, me being a regular customer and all." I said, feeling her eyes on me.
"You know, before you answered, I figured your favorite food would be pizza." She said, which had me smirking.
"Why? because I look like the type of person who just stays home and eats pizza?" I asked her.
"Yeah, you look like the type of person who stays home in his underwear, orders a box of pizza to eat, plays video games, does his drawings, programming, and stuff. So yes, yes you do." She said.
I laughed.
Wow, she hit the point straight on.
"Ouch, honestly, that hurt. Slightly true, but it still hurts, you know." I said.
I glanced at her and caught her rolling her eyes.
I cleared my throat.
"So, uh... I sort of abducted you without asking if you even have a boyfriend. You know someone who would be angry with all of this, you not spending the holiday with him or even your family, your family would also wonder," I said, feeling entirely wrong with what I did. I'm obviously not meant to be an abductor at all whatsoever.
What kind of kidnapper/ abductor takes someone and then feels terrible about it?
This guy, that's who.
