CH. 14 He said what he said(Aimee POV)
You know that moment when you don't know what to say at all whatsoever, so you decide not to say anything.
Yeah, this is the moment I am in now.
One thing for sure, I was shocked that I was still holding his hand.
Why wasn't I aware that I was still holding his hand?
It was like this was something natural to me. Isn't it dangerous to behave this way with someone you just met?
Isn't it dangerous to behave this way with someone who abducted you?
"You're quiet. Are you coming to the realization that you do?" Anthony's voice brought me out of my thoughts. I let go of his hand and started eating.
I felt him staring at me, but I refused to make eye contact with him; he let out a sigh and went back to eating also.
I probably seemed calm on the outside, but honestly, I was freaking out on the inside.
What exactly is going on with me?
Why was I feeling this way?
Why was I behaving this way?
This is a dangerous feeling; I'm just going to keep going with his plan to get it over with, and then I'll be done with this whole thing.
I refuse to let myself fall for someone who will probably realize that they no longer have feelings for me when they get to know me or the fact that the feelings they had for me weren't real.
No, I won't go through that anymore. It hurts going through that every time, and it's not good for me.
It's not good for my heart.
I always would say. 'Come on, Aimee, give this person a chance. It might be different this time.' But it never ends up being different.
"Hey, did I bother you with what I said? If it bothers you, I'm sorry. I guess part of me just wanted to confirm if you like me or not, especially with me having feelings for you." He said.
I let out a sigh.
"What if you don't have feelings for me? What if you think you do, but you don't," I said, finally making eye contact with him after what he said.
He raised a brow at me.
"Uh, because I know how I feel, and it's my feelings. How are you going to tell me about my feelings? I said what I said." He said, taking me off guard with how he expressed his words.
He was upset.
"Listen, Anthony. I might not be like what you thought I'd be like. You might even get disappointed. I'm just saying." I said. He shook his head.
"Why do you keep doubting my feelings for you?" He asked, looking at me.
"Because it's happened before where people think they have feelings for me, but they don't, or they don't even bother trying anymore," I told him and watched as he rolled his eyes.
"It's happened before? So someone has kidnapped you before and has brought you to their family cabin? Stop comparing me to those other people you've dated. Were not even on the same level; it's like they don't even go here." He said, chuckling making me confused a little bit.
"Nevermind, I quoted a movie, but that's not the point. The point is that you don't know how someone will be with you until you start being with them. You know, just let the person in. I know it's hard letting people in sometimes. I'm not saying you have to let me in. I'm asking you to let me earn your trust. I don't want you just giving it to me because it won't make me feel like I succeeded. I rather earn it. I know you've been through a lot, I don't know what you've been through, but I get the vibe that it's been a lot, and I'm fine with that. I'll have patience, that doesn't mean that I won't keep trying to see if I'll get some information out of you, but I'll be patient with you. I won't force you to tell me anything." He said, looking at me.
I analyzed his face to see if I could find anything to tell me if he did not mean his words, but his facial expression was genuine.
"Okay," I said.
Anthony smiled.
"Good, besides. It's not like we can't be friends. We can be friends, you know." He said to me, and I almost wanted to make a joke about being friends with my abductor, but when I looked at his face.
His expression was filled with hope, hope that I would want to be friends with him after everything.
I held the joke in and nodded.
"Okay, that's not a problem," I said, causing his eyes to widen.
"Yay, that's good!" he clapped his hand and did a cheer. I rolled my eyes playfully at the fact that he said yay.
We finished eating our food.
"You sure you don't want to dance?" He asked me, causing my eyes to widen.
"Uh, maybe next time," I said.
He gave me a soft smile, part of me felt like maybe he wanted to dance and perhaps I should have just danced with him.
He paid for our food, and we left the restaurant heading towards the car.
"You know, I can pay for my portion of the food. You don't have to pay for everything." I said to him. He rolled his eyes, smiling.
"Woman, I abducted you. I should be paying for your meals." He said, opening the door for me.
I let out a small laugh.
"Oh yeah, you're right about that," I said; getting into the car, I looked up at him. Something was missing. He was going to close the car door until he stopped.
"I didn't forget." He said, kissing my forehead then closing the door right after.
I let out a pleasing breath and immediately found myself stunned.
What.... what was that?
Was I looking forward to that?
I don't even know anymore.
Why am I behaving this way?
Anthony got into the car, pulled out of the restaurant parking lot, and headed towards the road.
"We're almost to the family cabin." He said.
He grabbed my hand with one of his hands and squeezed it.
"Everything is going to be alright." He said.
I looked down at our hands, feeling the beat of my heart from just staring at them: the comfort and the way his hand. Holding onto mine just felt natural.
I let out a sigh.
"I sure hope so," I said, looking out the window.
(*Kassandra Speaks*)
Okay, so I'm sure you all can relate to Aimee, those of you who have been in many different relationships. It's hard, sometimes you'll even have trust issues, and that's how Aimee feels. Not only that, but she's scared to open up to Anthony.
You all will know why in future chapters.
The next chapter is when they reach the Cabin!!!
