The Dollhouse

**Mai's Pov;**

He wants me to work with them! Yeah I don't know what I'm going to do yet. I'm working my shift at the cafe today. Lately the three of them come into my job. Pretty much to just keep an eye on me, and ask me if I'm going to accept the offer or not. Gene was released from the hospital last week. I don't understand why they just don't go back to England. Gene is using a different name he's Kai Shibuya. Pretending to be different people, so they don't know that the twins are pretty famous in paranormal studies. To me their just annoying. So are the others that sometimes come with them, they are Ayako Matsuzaki, the shrine maiden. Houshou Takigawa, a Monk from Mount Koya. Masako Hara, a famous medium from television. Last but not least John Brown a priest from Australia. They were all nice enough to the person who was their waitress, but Naru was so full of himself! I started to call him Naru the narcissist. It was funny because his other nickname was Noll which with the Japanese pronunciation it sounded the same. Gene was just a little annoying with the bugging me to join them. Gene usually only came with Naru and Lin but not the others. I held my resolve for three whole weeks. And that brings us to the new case we've taken.
"I'm not going in that house the spirit in there is nasty! She takes the lives of children, because she's looking for her lost child. I didn't get a timeframe for when this happened."
Naru responded with,
"If you know what's going on we need you with us."
"Fine! But I'm staying at base with Lin."
Gene looked up and said,
"So we'll be together as Naru wants me to stay with Lin too."
We made our introduction to the family. Me, Gene and Lin set up base while Naru did his red light hypnosis on the family. Things began to happen, first in the little girl room. All the furniture was away from the walls. Then in the living room everything was upside down including the rug.
Masako arrived a little later and of course she started flirting with Naru he said,
"Ms. Hara what do you feel inside this house?"
"There's a spirit of an Oshima here. She's keeping the children trapped here! Telling them she their mother. The children just want to go home to their real mother's!"
I took a seat on the loveseat nearby and let her flirt away. I wasn't about to do that. I already knew that she was holding the fact that they were the Davis's and not Shibuya's! Plus she thinks I'm stupid. I'm not I just don't tell everything I know. Even Naru, Gene, and Lin knows I hide things from them! I'll get the occasional hard glare from Naru and Lin but Gene is always kind. Now Monk and John are really nice. Ayako can be a little bit of a pain, but is nice when you don't feel well. Anyway I'm going to take a nap now it's boring listening to Masako flirt. When I hear Naru's voice,
"I hope you don't plan on going to sleep Mai?"
"Yes, yes I do! I didn't want to come in the first place much less work for SPR! So I'm taking a nap."
"I don't know why you let her talk to you like that Naru."
I heard Masako say
And I said plain as day in front of her with only Lin in the room as the others had left to search the house, and Gene was doing research away from here.
"Well it might be the same reason your blackmailing him with. What do you say Noll or maybe I should call you doctor! Now leave me alone! I have a killer headache and I need a nap!"
"MAI!"
"Please let me sleep."
And with that I dozed off.

**Conspiracy of three**

Lin's Pov;

"I've gathered the research on Mai. She's an orphan both of her parents are passed. I've been in touch with your parents. They are understanding and have pushed forward with the adoption application. It should be fairly easy to get it as her grades are on the low side and she has quite a few absences. But is it really worth having her mad at all of us for the foreseeable future?"
I looked at the twins with unease as I waited for their answers Gene spoke first,
"She needs to be protected. She could get in over her head and end up hurt or even dead."
Then Naru spoke,
"If she's what I think she is, she has all three PK abilities plus precognition. What else she has, has yet to be determined. But in truth she could be the most powerful person we've ever met! So we let our parents move forward and adopt Mai."
I nodded slowly,
"Very well."
