With Ayako and Monk and John around all the time. Masako kept giving me odd looks apparently she still isn't over her jealousy. Naru was frustrated and in a bad mood lately! I had no idea why as everyone was keeping quiet about anything to do with my being attacked. "You should be resting!" "I feel like I've slept for days Naru I can't sleep anymore." "Mother is worried she couldn't find you I figured you'd be in the garden. You have your wards right?" "Yes, I have them! They haven't attacked me in days Naru. I think they are done trying, as they know I have protection against them." "Still better to be safe I will not let them take you from me!" With that he took me into his arms and held me close. He lifted my lips to his and kissed me thoroughly. "You need to stop fighting this Mai. Our timeline is different! You changed the way we met! Therefore I'm not the same person who told you that." "I know, but it's hard to do." "Come let's go find mother." We entered the house to find Luella. When we found her she took me in her arms and spoke to Naru. Noll 'Naru' Pov;
"What do you mean they couldn't get a lead off the license plate number?" "The car was stolen Noll the plates switched so it was harder to track down information on it. The car belonged to a woman who passed away last year. The plates were from a junked car." "So we have nothing to go on?" "Nothing they are three steps ahead of us. Even with Mai actively looking for them!" "We're fighting shadows Dad. What happens if they go after Mai again. They could kill her with these psychic attacks!" "Noll she's protected by your friends from Japan. They are fighting just as hard as we are to protect her. Be calm she is safe. We will figure it out and stop them!" My father was right Mai at this moment was safe. It seems that they have moved on from her. My father has been going through all our old case files! Trying to find the ones that may be after us. We believe they are targeting the Davis family only. So he's looking at cases we handle ourselves. So far he thinks it's one of two cases. 'The missing millionaire' Or 'The missing heir' Neither were dead but in hiding. The millionaires family wanted to declare him dead, but every time they tried something would prove he was still alive! Whereas the heir's family just wanted him to come home. Gene worked on the millionaires case. So I went to speak with him about it. "Gene do you remember the millionaire case? Did the family in fact want him to be dead?" "Actually I felt like they tried to do something to cause his death, but I think he's clairvoyant like myself and Mai. He was able to stop what they had planned! I believe these people knew I saw or felt something off with them. They tried to say the old man was paranoid, and believe everyone was out to get him for his money. If you think it could be them you might be right Noll!" "Do you think that one of them is the psychic that's been attacking Mai?" "It's possible considering if they are related to the old man by blood! They could have inherited it from him! But they didn't use their real names. Dad pulled me off the case when they came back as false names. He reported the fraud to others in our community, so they couldn't get another medium to help them!" "So I'm guessing that they didn't want you as much as they wanted me to use my psychometry to find him." "They did ask me to use it. When I explained that we were identical twins and I was Eugene Davis and not Oliver they were extremely upset. They accused SPR of tricking them!" Mai's Pov;
Mom, I and Naru went out to eat for the first time in weeks. Gene and Dad were doing research with Ayako, Monk, Yasu and John. Masako was keeping her distance from everyone. I couldn't help but wonder if it was because Naru told her it was me over everyone else. I was his as he was mine, and if he had to wait forever for me then he would wait! I hadn't meant to eavesdrop on them! I was heading to my room and they were standing there in front of it. Naru had probably came looking for me, and she cornered him. Then told him how she felt about him! When she came around the corner and saw me she didn't say anything just gave me a teary smile. Then said, 'He chose you!' "Mai your not eating much. Is something wrong are your wards not working?" "I'm fine Naru! Just got lost in thought." "Mai honey you should really try to focus on eating. You've been so sick lately that you've lost some weight." "Yes Mom I know my clothes are really loose on me. I'll get back to me just give me time, and stop worrying so much. Really they haven't tried anything in weeks. In all honesty I believe that now we know what they are doing, and why. They've gone into hiding from us." "I would rather not take a risk with you Mai! You'll continue to carry your wards until we've caught them!" "Whatever you say Naru...." "Don't get upset Mai we just want to make sure you are safe!" "Yes Mom I know. I understand that too. Naru just likes to press my buttons!" "Yes I know he does and I think you'll lead him on a merry chase." We both laugh as Naru gives us a look. "If the two of you are done. Mai finish eating so we can get you back home to safety! I really don't like that we're out in the open like this." "Noll, Mai needs to be outside in the fresh air. Right sweetheart?" "Yes Mom. The garden helps but it's not enough. I miss going out with you and our friends to have tea time. I'm even missing my school tutors. As they gave me something to do." "We can get them to come back and work with you a couple of times a week." "When she's healthy again Mom!" "Of course Noll I would never put to much on her until she's one hundred percent." There they go again talking like I'm not here. I decide to focus on my food. I didn't want to finish to fast as Naru would push to head home as soon as I was done. I wish they would find the people who tried to hurt me and Gene. Naru would ease up on how strict he was with my protection. "Mai stop playing with your food and eat so we can go! If your done I'll have them wrap it up." "I don't want to go home yet I'm sick of the house! It's making me sicker then I already am being locked up all the time." "How about a walk after you finish eating? We can even go to the book store and look around a little bit." "Mom! I don't think that is safe!" "Noll sweetie if she doesn't get out a little bit she'll end up even worse. She's already barely sleeping. I'm sorry Mai I know I said I wouldn't say anything, but he needed to know." "Yes Mom I know I just wish I could of told him." "Mai why didn't you tell me sooner then this!" "I don't know. Maybe because you'd overreact and try to keep me locked up in the house even more than usual. But that's what's making me feel like this." "I didn't know that I was making it worse, for that I'm sorry Mai!" We left the restaurant a little later with Naru holding my hand while we walked around with our Mom and went window shopping. I finally felt like myself again. It was amazing. We started to head home a few hours later as it got dark Lin picked us up. "Hey Lin thanks for picking us up." "You look like your feeling better." "I am! Thanks to Mom and Naru."
