England Testing

Mai's Pov;

"Mai we need to know what you can do, it would be helpful for us. So we can protect you. Please work with us!"
Mr. Davis was pleading with me to show him what I could do I had refused for months.
"I'm sorry Mr. Davis but that is never going to happen. I have no intention of ever showing you what I can or can't do. I'll wait until I'm 18 and I'll be taking off. Returning to Japan."
He let out a sigh of defeat it was the same every time. I wasn't being co-operative with them. They were very nice and kind to me. I was also being homeschooled the Davis's brought in Gene's and Noll's old teacher. She noticed my complete reluctance to actively participate in my education. That was mostly thanks to the fact that I could simply touch someone and instantly know what they wanted me to know. So school was boring because I already knew the answers. The teacher touched my shoulder that first day and I learned her whole syllabus in that single touch. Plus some silly trivia she was going to use to break the ice with me. While Madoka was very nice to me I just found everything to be boring after that. She did try again after that she even managed to make me laugh, at Naru's expense. Telling me stories about the twins childhood and all the things they did to pester our parents. One afternoon I hear Mrs Davis calling for me.
"Mai could you come here please?"
Mrs. Davis called again, I wondered what she wants now. Seems like I'm always going downstairs when I finally get to my room. I swear the only time I'm left alone is when I'm asleep. I throw myself across my bed and fake sleep. She'll check when I don't respond. Please let her think I'm sleeping. I calm my breathing slow and steady. I'm actually drifting when she checks me. She covers me and leaves me to sleep. Thank you! And I fall asleep.

Mrs Davis's Pov;

"She was asleep Martin. What are we going to do she barely speaks to us! Much less shows us anything she can do. Perhaps we should send her back to the boys. She at least would fight with Noll! Which is better than that shell of a girl we have upstairs right now."
I awaited my husband's response he looked over at me and simply said,
"She wouldn't be safe there with them. If she's as powerful as Noll thinks. He thinks she  has all three PK abilities. Noll saw Gene's death because she made him see it! Lin saw her stop a shelf and camera from falling on them. The last one they believe she moved a car to block the path to her and Gene when he was almost hit. So I just need her to show me so I can help her. She also needs to be protected more than anything. I just don't understand how to reach her. Perhaps if Gene was to come home for awhile. That might bring her out."
"I can call him. See when he can come home. But I honestly don't think it'll work she's shut us out Martin! I don't think she's ever going to trust us, or let us in if we keep acting like researchers instead of just being her parents. I think we should set aside the paranormal investigations into Mai for the foreseeable future!"
I left Martin to call my son. Mai saved him! I was so grateful to her. She was already my daughter in my heart. I was going to do anything to keep her safe. If she's as gifted as we believe, there are people who would try to use her.
"Hello Gene how are you doing? I have a question for you. Do you think Noll could spare you for a few weeks. We need help with Mai. She won't talk to us at all, she's completely shut us out."
"Maybe you should send her back to us. I know father will say it dangerous because of what Mai might be. But I think she needs Noll to push her to one up him on the power scale of things. We could use her help on this new case. I'm sure Lin and Noll will help with getting her comfortable with us. Plus I kind of know some of what she can do it was caught on film."
I continued to speak with Gene for a while longer making a plan to send Mai back to Japan. I also spoke with Lin about taking temporary guardianship of her like the boys while they were in Japan. The argument that came after with Martin was something else, but I just knew Mai would be better around our sons and the familiar streets of Japan. Where her life was before us. Plus we could possibly put conditions on her returning, that was what made Martin finally agree.
