Come Break Me Down

Chapter 32

The green hair was now gone and the new color was bleached blonde. This I could get used to, anything was better than neon green. We had a late flight back to LA and I slept in this morning. After stretching and pulling my robe on, I walked down the stairs to see a lot of camping gear near the front door. I was unable to stop the rolling of my eyes as I walked into the kitchen. "Ava." I heard my name as he ran down the stairs. "I made some plans for us this weekend."

"Please tell me that it's not camping. I already told you, I don't like bugs a-" Before the sentence was all the way out of my mouth, I could see the huge grin on his face as I turned around. "Shit! Jared, I've only been camping once in my life and it was a total nightmare." I reminded him, sipping my scalding hot coffee. He was talking about going camping and I just got out of bed and wasn't even dressed yet.

"Well, you've never been camping with me. It will be great! Shannon's coming with a friend and I promise you'll have a good time." He smiled and walked to the door, picking up the tent and backpacks, carrying them out the door.

When he came back in, I walked past him touching his hair. "I really do like the blonde better than the green." I completely ignored his talk of camping in hopes he would forget about it.
Unfortunately, I knew that would never happen, but it was worth a shot.

"Don't get used to it. Come on, I swear you will have fun. If not, you can drag me somewhere I absolutely hate next time."

"Count on it!" I put my coffee cup in the sink and grabbed a handful of his gray sweatshirt, pulling him closer so that I could kiss him. "You're lucky that you are so handsome."

"You know you love me. Come on, get your butt ready. We have to go soon." He smacked my ass going up the stairs.

After getting ready to go, I helped him load a few more things into the truck and we drove over to Shannon's. When we got there, Shannon was holding hands with a woman I had never met and I looked over at Jared. He smiled, "Her name is Natalie."

"How long has he been with her?" I asked, shocked that he was bringing her.

"A few weeks." He looked at me out the corner of his eye.

"A few weeks? Oh please don't let her be an annoying bitch." I said it low, but he heard me anyway and pinched my leg.
The three hour drive to the camp site was boring and I spent most of my time listening to music. As soon as the truck came to a stop, I hopped out to greet

Shannon, but before I could say anything, he beat me to it. "There she is." He wrapped his arms around me and gave me a tight squeeze. "Natalie, this is Ava. She's Jared's girlfriend." He leaned closer and spoke into my ear loud enough for everyone to hear. "So, let's try and have a fun camping trip without any sex games."

I rolled my eyes at the fact that all was normal once again. "Hi, I'm Ava." I smiled at her. "Just ignore him, the only sex games he plays are usually with himself."

She started laughing and Shannon narrowed his eyes at me. "Very funny, Ava." He turned to Natalie. "Did I mention she thinks she's a comedian?"

We carried as much as we could to the area that they wanted to set up the tents. It wasn't as bad as I thought it would be and Natalie was pretty cool. It was nice to get away and not have Jared staring down at his phone, but even better, now that our numbers were changed.
