True to his word, he spent the next few days with me. We went for hikes, watched movies and made dinner together, enjoying our time alone. I knew that in a few days it would end and he would be gone again.
This time he would be gone even longer and I hated to think about being all alone again. He was leaving the next day and after dinner I watched his ritual of packing. It's always the same thing, he placed the suitcase on the bed and I would sit and watch him gather all of his things.
He walked back and forth from the closet to the suitcase. When he finally had all of the clothes that he wanted, he went into the bathroom and started gathering things from in there. He walked back out with a small bag. Glancing in my direction, he shook his head. "Don't do that." I knew he saw the look on my face. "It's not even going to be for that long." He stopped and tossed the small bag into his suitcase. I knew he was right, but I couldn't help myself.
"Sorry." I wiped my eyes and watched as he zipped up the bag. He picked it up and dragged it out to the door, like he always did. It would be there for when the car picked him up at five a.m. All he had to do was grab it on the way out the door.
He put his hands on my shoulders. "You do this every time." He whispered, guiding me back into the bedroom. Pressing himself into my back, he slid one arm around my neck, guiding me back into the bedroom. "A few trips back and forth and this will all be over. I will be home before you know it. I'm getting sick of this hair anyway."
"It's not my favorite color." I laughed, "I will be glad when you're home!" He climbed into bed. I really wanted to spend some more time with him, but I knew that he had to get some sleep in order to get up and leave on time. I slipped beneath the sheet next to him.
Closing my eyes, the next thing I knew, he was waking me up to kiss me and tell me that he would call me later. I got up and walked him to the door. I knew that he had a hat on to try and disguise himself, but with that neon green hair, he didn't have a chance. "They will spot you a mile away."
"Wow, thanks." He said, sounding annoyed. "Go back to bed and I'll call you later." After a passionate kiss, he left.
I tried to go back to sleep, but was unsuccessful. I pulled my hair up in a bun and decided to go for a walk. I was only gone a little over an hour and the sun was coming up. It was going to be a beautiful day and I busied myself with some errands and stopped for lunch. It was after three by the time I got back home.
I cleaned out the refrigerator and was starting on a load of laundry when I heard someone at the door. There stood a brunette. She was all dressed up in a pretty blue dress and matching heels. "Hi, you must be the help." She walked in past me. "Jared." She called out, her voice echoing throughout the house."Who are you? Can I help you?" I asked.
She laughed at me, but continued moving around the house, going to the back door to look out. "Jared, where are you?" I was right behind her."Lady, I have no idea who you are, but he's not here!"
She stopped. "He's not? Wait, I thought the flight was for five."
"It was at five am. Now, who the hell are you?" I stood staring at her.
She laughed and I could feel my face begin to redden with anger. "I must have gotten myself confused! I'll just call him. I'm Arianna. Let's just say that we are, very good friends."
