It's been a couple of days since Christian's death and my mother has still not let me into the house. I had to sneak in my window just to get some clothes and my school stuff. It's ridiculous that she's blaming me for this meanwhile Claire was drunk and drove the car.
I've been staying with Lily and Ben, their parents are coming back tonight for the funeral, hopefully they will be okay with me staying at their house.
"Are you sure you're okay to go to school?" Ben asked with a sense of concern, I nod. "Yeah, this is something I have to do. To be honest I'm not even sure that my mother will allow me to go to the funeral since Claire is in juvey." I don't know how long she's going to be away for, but something tells me that it's going to be at least a month. My mom is an attorney so I have a feeling she's not going to be in there that long.
"Alright lets get going." Lily said eagerly. What's she so excited about? As we got into the car I couldn't help but wonder why she's so happy. She blasted music, started singing and dancing and it was a new side of her that I haven't seen yet. I'm not gonna lie, I kinda like it.
Once Ben went off to talk to his friends, I decided to ask Lily. "So spill the beans, what's got you so happy?" I tease, her smile only grows wider.
"His name is Parker. I've known him since kindergarten but we've been flirting lately and I think he might ask me out. Look there he is." She waves at a boy with blonde hair and green eyes, he smiles back and waves.
"Well, What are you waiting for? Go talk to him!"
"You won't be mad?" She asks anxiously, I shake my head. "Are you kidding me? Go get your mans." I tease, pushing her towards Parker's direction.
As I walked into school I couldn't help but notice the stares and whispers of the students around me. "I heard her sisters in jail"
"I heard she killed her brother"
"I heard-"
"Hey. You okay?" I was snapped out of the voices by Sam. I looked at him with a fake smile. "I'm great."
"Come on Emma, that fake smile isn't fooling me. You can talk to me, especially after Friday night, I thought we kind of connected." He looked disappointed but I had to put him in check.
"As much as I don't like to admit it, yeah we did. But I have major trust issues so just saying you can trust me is not going to earn you my trust." He sighed, a look of sadness flashing through his eyes. "Alright, I'll respect that. But we're partnered up for dance, so why don't we take this project time to start over and introduce ourselves again?"
"If Friday night didn't happen, I would've said no. But I'd actually like that." I reply genuinely, he smiles and wraps his arm around me to bring me into a hug. "Okay enough of that let's get to class." I push him off and start walking, earning even more glares from girls than I'd had before. Great. I guess being friends with him is going to have consequences.
"Well what do we have here? The new girl and Sam being all buddy buddy with each other? I would've thought after she slapped you that you would realize she's a crazy bitch and stay away but I guess not." The girl whom I remember to be Stacey says snarkily.
"We're just friends so you can calm down now." I reply bitterly. I don't like girls like her. Back home I had friends like her and all I can say to describe them is that they were total bitches.
"Woah, someone needs an attitude adjustment. I think you better keep your girl in check Sam, we don't want anything to happen to her do we?"
"Is that a threat?"
"No sweetie it's a promise-"
"Listen you Barbie looking fake ass wannabe bitch. I am not an object and I am certainly not someone who is to be messed with, so the one who should really be kept in check is you princess. Now if you'll move your ass, I have to get to class." As I pushed past her she just laughs in my face.
