Eddie walked to his locker as the school bell rung through the atmosphere, sending waves of sweaty high schoolers running into the halls. Eddie rolled his eyes at his schoolmates and opened his locker, grabbing his backpack. He then turned around to lean on his locker, waiting for a certain someone to walk him home. Eddie watched as Stan approached him with a fake smile on his face. "Hey Eddie, Rich wanted me to let you know that he can't walk you home today," He said, stopping in front of the small boy.
Eddie let his mouth fall into a frown, anxiety blossoming in the pit of his stomach. "What? But Bill's not here either," Eddie said, worry lacing his voice.
"You'll be fine, Eddie. It's just a walk home," The jewish boy said, rolling his eyes.
Eddie felt his heart sink at the uncaring tone Uris held. So much can happen on a walk home, Eddie worried inside his head, recalling the other times he had walked alone. He shuddered, turning away from Stan without another word. Eddie headed down the hallway, each step drawing more and more paranoia. He pushed the large school doors open and stepped into the cold air, darting his eyes around the yard in front of him. Eddie started down the sidewalk, heading to his house. As the cold surrounded him, he closed his hands around his mouth to blow warm breath into his palms, warming them immediately. He continued on walking for a few minutes, his anxiety at it's highest peak and his senses on complete alert. He found himself digging his nails into his soft skin on his palms to try to calm himself. Eddie felt his heart sink as he noticed an alleyway coming up. His hands began to shake as he quickened his pace. fear overtaking him as if his body knew what was waiting for him up ahead. As the Kaspbrak boy walked past the alley, he was not surprised as arms wrapped around him from behind, lifting him up. Eddie felt his entire body start shaking as the figure blew breath on his neck as he spoke.
"Hey, Wheezy," Henry chuckled from behind him.
"Henry, please don't," Eddie shivered from the contact with the person behind him.
"Don't whine, you know how I hate when you whine," Henry growled, pulling Eddie into the alley with him. Before Eddie could protest, Henry pushed the boy up against a wall, trapping him. Eddie whimpered as his back slammed into the hard brick, shaking his head.
"Shut up," Henry snarled as he covered Eddie's mouth with his hand. He then leaned down and placed his head in the crook of Eddie's neck, placing small pecks along his skin. Eddie shuddered with disgust.
"Henry, please not today," Eddie said, his voice wavering, despite his attempt at a demand.
"I said, shut up," The taller boy bit down harshly on Eddie's shoulder, causing him to yelp out in pain, his vision becoming blurry with incoming tears. As Henry began to grind down on the boy, Eddie began to cry, unable to get out of Henry's grip. Hot, salty tears leaked from the orbs of the broken boy against the wall, and as his body continued to be assaulted, his mind went numb. All feelings of mental pain left, and instead focused on what he wanted to feel instead. He thought of black, curly hair. He thought of gorgeous, smiling eyes. He felt the pressure on his body increase, sending a yelp of pain out of his quivering lips as his body scraped against the hard, brick wall. Eddie squeezed his eyes shut, continuing to think of the tall, thin boy that always seemed to numb his pain. But it wasn't enough. As the minutes went on, his mind expanded to everything that made him feel okay. Nail polish. No, I got beat for that, he thought to himself. Bev. No, she goes through the same thing I do, he rejected. Bill. No, he doesn't help. Richie. Where is he now?, Eddie's mind challenged. Eddie cried harder as his mind disregarded any good thing he thought he had. He had nothing. Nothing but black and blue pain, nothing but loneliness, nothing but assault, nothing but injuries, and nothing but a nightmare that was his reality. And as the pressure faded, as his body come crashing to the floor, and as the boy who had just broken the last of Eddie Kaspbrak left, Eddie had finally had accepted that he would forever have nothing.
