After the two got more Tea from Addison, they walk back over to Charley's apartment. They knock on his door before letting themselves in. This time, after seeing (Y/n) being uncomfortable, Sal decided to hand the tea and talk to Charley instead.
"We got more tea from Addison." Charley brights up. "Wonderful!" He snatched the tea from Sal's hands and chugs it down. He hands the cup back to him and sighs, "Ahh, so relaxing..." He then passed out again.
Sal turns to (Y/n), who hands him the bag and goes to grab the pony, but once again, Charley wakes up, making Sal stuff the bag behind him. "Were you about to touch my ponies, Sal?" He shakes his head. "Wouldn't dream of it." The two then walk out of the room.
(Y/n) slightly groans, "It seems like he instantly wakes up when someone is near his figurines." Sal nodded and stared off of space, thinking of a plan before something pops in his head. "I have sleeping pills in my apartment, maybe that'll work." (Y/n) smiles, "Oh, great! You're a genius, Sal."
He just shrugs, a small blush forming. "Not really, it just crossed my mind." They quickly rush over to Addison's place for more tea before going to Sal's place as he snatches the sleeping pills and puts two in. He places back where he found it and the two rush back to Charley. They let themselves in as Charley greets, "Hello again!"
Sal approached him, holding the tea. "Got you more tea." The two hoped that he'd drink it, but Charley shook his head. "As much as I love that stuff, I don't know if I can drink another drop today. As surprising as that sounds." But Sal urges him on. "Really? But it's fresh, nice and hot." Charley then starts to reconsider. "Well, maybe... No, I don't want to overdo it. I've probably had at least 20 cups today."
(Y/n) finally speaks. "Are you positive? This is... Um... This is a new recipe Mr. Addison was trying out. Sal and I already had 3 cups and we thought it was way better than the other kind... we even--" Charley instantly changes his mind, "Oh! I HAVE to try that! Give it here!" Like so, Sal hands it to him as Charley, again, drinks it down. He hands the cup back to Sal. "Ahh, this IS better than his original. I don't know how he--"
Charley then passes out again. (Y/n) pulls out the bag again and quickly throws the toy in the bag. "We got the toy, score!" Sal cheered while they tip-toe their way out of the room. (Y/n) huffs, "Let's go tell Larry the news." They then hurried over to Larry's place. Once arriving at his apartment, Sal slams open Larry's bedroom door while (Y/n) holds the plastic bag.
"We got the toy!" Larry shoots up. "Alright, Mr. and Mrs. Smooth Criminal! I knew you guys could do it!" They just roll their eyes at him and chuckle. "Thanks, man. We were nervous for a second there. " Sal stated.
"I bet. Now all you guys need to do is give it to that detective it'll be all over." The two sigh quietly before making their way to the elevator. They arrive at the first floor and walked out to see the detective scribbling in his notes. They rush over to him and shove the bag at his face.
"We got some evidence." (Y/n) stated directly. The detective backed away from the closeness of the bag before grabbing it and inspecting inside. "Let me see that... This came from Charley's room? How did you kids get this?" Sal stepped in, looking up at the very tall detective. "I was just saying hello to my new neighbors, you know, trying to introduce myself to everyone. My friend decided to tag along with me. We were in there talking to Charley and he was showing us all of his toys. That's when my friend noticed one had blood on it! We thought for sure this would be helpful, so I grabbed it with my lunch bag."
The detective nods, stroking his chin, "Well, well, two little detectives in training, huh? Haha not bad, kids. I'll hold onto this. Just remember next time, you come to us with this info instead of putting yourselves at risk, ok?" Sal and (Y/n) spoke simultaneously. "Yes, sir. You got it."
The detective then walked outside as Sal and (Y/n) relaxed their shoulders. The blue-haired boy turned to (Y/n), saying. "I'm going to get some fresh air after that fiasco, want to join?" She reluctantly shook her head, yes and they walked out of the building.
They notice the detective and approach him, making him glance up from his notes and said, "Good work today, Sal, (Y/n). You two can rest easy now." They quickly thank him and continue to walk. Sal and (Y/n) turn their heads at a cop car to see Charley inside. They stop walking when Charley sneers at them. "I'm innocent, I swear. I thought you guys were my friends!"
They just give him a quick look before they continue their walk. They stop once again when they notice an ambulance car in front of them. Curious, Sal looked in the vehicle and gestured (Y/n) over. "Hey, can you get a closer look to what's inside? I can barely see anything."
(Y/n) walks over and squints her eyes in the van. She gasps and steps away when she notices Mrs. Sanderson's dead corpse. Her head was split open, revealing her brain while her throat was sliced open. Sal glances at (Y/n) real fast before looking inside to see her body.
He went slightly pale while (Y/n) was starting to get sick. Before you know it, she threw up on the grass. Sal shots his head over to her and holds her hair away from her face so that it wouldn't get caught in the puke. He felt bad for urging (Y/n) to look inside. If he'd known what was inside, he would've told her not to look at all.
After (Y/n) finished vomiting, she went to stand but stumbled a bit. Sal caught her, asking her with concern. "Are you ok?" She waved it off. "Yeah, yeah... I'm fine." She went to walk off, but she stumbled again, making Sal come to her aid. "You're not. You're clearly traumatized. I'm sorry for making you look inside."
She sighed. "It's not your fault for not knowing. And, uh, thank you for catching me." He nodded. (Y/n) placed a hand on his shoulder for support as they were heading back to their rooms. Sal approached (Y/n)'s door while she pulls out her key and unlocks the door. She pushes the door open and stumbles over to the couch, sprawled her legs and arms.
Sal closes the door and walks over to the couch. In the corner of his eye, he notices a cat approaching then jumping on (Y/n)'s lap. She sighs and strokes the cat. "That's going to give me more night terrors...."
Sal looks at her, raising a brow, "You have night terrors?" She nods sadly, "Yeah, I started having them rather young. Well, it was due to my past traumatization of..." She trailed off, staring at the ceiling. Sal took note that she didn't want to be asked why, so he lifted her legs up and sat on the couch, letting them drape over his lap.
(Y/n) looked at the clock and noticed it was around 5:30 to 6:00. 'Mom already left for work.' She told herself. (Y/n) stopped petting her cat and lets her left arm go numb. "What a weird way for getting to know each other."
Sal nodded. "Yeah." (Y/n) sat herself up and pulled her legs away. She, again, sighed. "It was rather... 'adventuring' today. But, at least I have another friend now." She smiled at him. She noticed Sal's prosthetic shift, indicating that he was giving her a smile underneath it. Sal glanced over at the clock and stood up. "I should be heading back home, my dad would start to wonder where I am."
Sal dug through his pockets and pulled out a pen and a crumbled up piece of paper. He quickly wrote something down and handed it to (Y/n). "Here," (Y/n) took the paper and took a glimpse at it, "It's my number. You can text me if you're not feeling too well." She nodded, smiling again. "I will, thanks."
(Y/n) escorted him out of the apartment, saying one more time. "Let's hang out sometime." Sal quickly nodded and (Y/n) closed the door.
