A Renegades reveal

The secret Part 2

Adrian POV 

Adrian was ready. He was going to tell her. He didn't want to of course, btu he loved her and she loved him, he needed to be honest with her. 

"You're staring" said Nova, giving him a quizzical look. "What are you thinking about?" 

"We need to talk" Adrian said, "somewhere private" Nova tensed, and Adrian wanted to put his arms around her and reassure her that everything was going to be okay. But he wasn't sure of that anymore. They were sitting on one of the balconies of the Renegades building looking out over the city. They weren't the only ones here but it wasn't crowded. Adrian pushed back a strand of hair that the wind had freed from behind Nova's ear, and after a moment of hesitation she put her head on his shoulder. 

"About what" she asked and it took Adrian a moment to realize that she was talking about the secret. 

"I'll tell you soon" he said "I jus- he was cut of by an echo of rings coming from all around him. Everyone's wristbands were going off. Both Nova and Adrian instinctively looked at their wrists. And what they found left them dumbfounded. A mandatory meeting for all prodigies is being called for tomorrow morning at 9 am for the neutrilazation of Alec Artino. Adrian heard Nova mutter under her breath No but Adrian didn't understand. He got why she usually hated Agent N but for this, why not. It was better than death better than most other punishments he deserved. This was the one time that agent N shouldn't have bothered anybody. But Nova looked more rattled than he had ever seen her before. It wasn't even Nova's usual emphatic, this is wrong! It was instead a desparate and feeble plea. 

"I heard my dads talikng about it the other night, it was this or death, they are evn reducing his prison sentence afterward, only five years instead of the original 90." Adrian said "but that might just be because most people don't think he will last much longet anyways." Adrian realized he was rambling. He looked around, everyone else on the balcony had left. They sat in silence for a few more minutes before Adrian said.

"I'm the sentinal"

"WHAT? YOU? YOU ARE THE ONE... THE ONE WHO..." Nova couldn't seem to finish 

"Yes" Adrian said. Nova got up to leave "please wait, you have to give me a chance." 

"Do I?" Asked Nova anger and betrayal... and fear, in her voice.

"No I guess you don't, but please what have I done that made you so angry at me." Adrian expected her to say something like,  you lied to me but instead she said.

"I need some time to think"

And then she was gone. She disappeared though the glass doors leading off of the balcony and to the elevator. Leaving Adrian alone and cold, wondering what on earth he had done wrong.

When Adrian finds out who Nova is who do you want to be with them or should they be alone?
