A Renegades reveal

Danna part 1

This is an interaction between only Nightmare and Monarch and has nothing to do with the story before.

Danna POV 

Danna knew already that even her hundreds of butterflies couldn't lift the glass dome. Even all of them combined wasn't strong enough. But that didn't keep her from trying. 

Danna saw a shift in the shadows an half a moment later Nightmare walked into the room.  Danna cursed herself for not realizing sooner. She wished that she could hear when in butterfly form, it would make spying  so much easier. 

And there standing in the middle of the room was her enemy, looking like Nova looking like Insomnia, looking like her friend. But Nova wasn't her friend, she never had been. It had all been an act. Nova was working for the Anarchists. Everyday Danna had to watch Nightmare don her Renegades disguise knowing that there was nothing she could do to warn her real friends. But this time Nova was holding an orange, and Danna had a glimmer of a hope that Nova was going to feed her.

Nova began to cut the orange into tiny pieces small enough that she wouldn't have to lift the dome much to slip it in. Nova walked slowly over to Danna's glass prisonand lifted it. Danna took full advantage of this situation the trapped butterfly sped with all its strength as it had done every time Nightmare had given Monarch a peice of fruit. But this time. It worked.

Danna was free!

Nightmare immediately took up a battle position. She removed her throwing starts and the net gun, grumbling about leaving her most powerful weapons at home. Danna knew she only had a knife on her but it would have to do. Danna didn't quite know why she wanted to fight Nova before going to tell the Renegades. It put her more at risk, but Nightmare had kept her trapped, and had betrayed them all.

Danna felt all the wings brushing together as she reformed into her human form. She reached for the knife at her hip and took it out of the sheath. She was usually more comfortable with hand to hand combat but engaging with Nightmare, she would use any weapon available. Nightmare lunged fingertips bare and aimed at Monarch's face. Danna blocked with her arm and the thin grey fabric of her Renegades uniform was just enough to protect her. Luckily for Danna all of Nova's weapons were long range and wouldn't do much good at close range. Danna swund at Nova's legs with her knife letting her anger at the betrayal fuel her, Nightmare jumped and dodged the swipe, but the blade scratched her ankle and Nightmare fell to the ground, though not that hurt.

"What pushed you to betray us?" Danna asked

"You can't betray someone you never had any allegiance to." Nightmare said, devoid of emotion.

"Are you sure you don't have any allegiance to any renegades?" Danna asked not so subtly implying Nova's obvious affection for Adrian.

"That's different!" Nova yelled her attacks became more forceful. Danna knew she couldn't last long in a fight against Nightmare, but, she had a simple escape, she dispersed into a thousand butterflies. Nightmare pulled out her net gun and shot it.

The net snaged on about half of her butterflies, Monarch knew that she wouldn't be able to shake off the net in butterfly form but in human from she would be able to throw it off. The remaining butterflies swarmed the trapped ones, and she reformed. 

"You won't tell Adrian because you will stay here trapped and unable to." Nightmare looked more cruel that Danna had ever seen her, "your lucky I'm Not going to kill you" Nightmare reached out, she was going to knock Danna out. Just the Danna remembered the syringe in her belt, she reached for it and aimed it at Nightmare.Nova scrambled back and grabbed one of the bones that decorated the room using it as a type of sword.

"Don't"

"Why not your a villain, its no more than you would do to me, than you have done to me."

"You healed, this would be permanent, I would lose Ad... everything." Adrian, the thing that seemingly mattered more than anything to Nova, and yet she was a villain, one of the most dangerous that Gatlon City had ever seen. Danna knew she couldn't take her on alone, but if the renegades knew than Nightmare would finnaly fall. Danna ran towards the window, dispersing into a thousand orange and black insects and a moment later she was free and on her way to  Renegade tower.
