As Adrian walked into the auditorium he noticed Nova sitting on the aisle of the third row she was wearing her Renegade uniform her belt stocked with weapons that might seem unimpressive to someone else, but Adrian knew how deadly Nova could be when she used them. She wore her usual alert posture as if expecwting an attack from all sides. Adrian walked up to her and sat next to her. She looked over at him and for a moment her eyes brightened, but in a fraction of a second the light was gone.
"Good morning Sketch." She said with a slight nod. Adrian felt crushed he supposed that is where the word crush came from, his love for Nova was breaking him.
"Was I first one you told?" Nova asked out of the blue a new hope sparkling in her eyes. Adrian didn't know how to answer, he began to stttuuddder. The look of anoyance returned. "That's all I needed to know." After a few a shout came from the other side of the room.
"Hey Adrian!" Shouted Oscar, he looked like he still had a runny nose but other wise he looked much better. He was holding a plate of waffles that probably weren't allowed in the auditorium but no one stopped him. Everyone knew that for Oscar Silvey breakfast wasn't over until 10 am.
"Come sit with us" Adrian replied, yelling over the heads of a couple other prodigies. Ruby plopped between Nova and Adrian and Oscar sat on Adrian's other side. Ruby glanced over at Nova.
"What happened to her?" Asked Ruby in an almost in audible wisper.
"Team captain Sketch and his secret is what happened" said Nova coldly.
"Do I want to know how he told you?" Asked Ruby.
"It's not how he told me but what he told me, him the sentinal" she said in an scornful whisper. Then all of a sudden the auditorium fell silent. The councillors had arrived. And so had Ace Anarchy. Captain Chromium stepped forward and cleared his throat.
"Today we are here to witness the true end of Ace Anarchy. For twenty years he and his gang made the citizens of Galton miserable. But from now on he will never be able to do so again."
"My I say some last words?" Ace asked in a surprisingly polite voice.
"We aren't killing you but yes if you would like" said Blacklight. Ace Anarchy cleared his throat.
"When I was younger I was scorned everywhere I went simply because I had something they didn't. Power. Then one day I realized I could do something about it. I could rise above the hatred of my neighbors. And thus the revolution began. Many people thought that I was killing just to kill or destroying because I liked it. But that is not true. My vision was that prodigies would be able to live their lives peacefully but separately from non prodigies. But after the revolution villain gangs started popping up taking advantage of the growing pains this world was expericencing, then the council appeared. They were just like the other villain gangs fighting and battling, claiming that they were better, but they weren't. Then one day ten years ago, they promised to protect my brothers because he had made them a promise to stop making weapons for the roaches. He upheld his side of the bargain but the coulcil didn't honor their promise. The roaches sent a hit man and all but one of them died that night and my six year old niece was forced to watch the murder of her parents because the Renegades didn't care. Because the council wouldn't save them!" He was practically shouting now and the crowd was shocked was what he was saying true? "This may be my last day with powers but I am not done. I have people perfectly positioned to spring me right now, but they won't because they have a mission to stick to." Just then the needle plunged into his skin. "This is not over" he said coldly and was escorted off the stage.
The council was dumbstruck,
"I didn't know he knew" said Captain Chromium "I didn't knew he cared" the crowd erupted into angry shouts of disbelief.
Adrian was shocked. His parents had failed to keep a promise they hadn't put the civilians first. It didn't matter if they were Artinos or not they had asked for help and had been let down. Maybe the idea behind vigilantism was flawed if this is what it lead to. Maybe the Sentinel wasn't as wonderful as Adrian had thought he was. Maybe he did more harm than good.
"Well I guess you are dismissed we clearly have alot to talk about" Tsunami said with a confused half smile.
"Wow" said Ruby "that was intense"
Yay
