A Renegades reveal

Revenge Part 5

Nova POV 

Nova didn't know what to do, Ace had told her to stand down. And now he was gone. All that was left was Uncle Alec.

The council was going down.

She had suffered enough.

She would do whatever it took.

Adrian called them all over to a table in the dinning hall. 

"Sooooooo" he said "that was unexpected, but we have patrol this afternoon at 2:30 until 6, see you all here in three hours" He tried to make eye contact with Nova but she wouldn't let him, not anymore. 

Nova met Cyanide two blocks from Renegade headquarters. 

"He's gone" and the rest of thr ride back was silent. When they arrived home Leroy left her alone in the living room. Then Nova spotted the bronze helmet that she had hidden not three days ago under a coat. She pulled it out and felt it hum in her hands. He's gone now, She thought. This helmet is mine now. She put it on her head and felt the power course through her. Her senses became more acute, and she felt physically stronger. But most of all she like she put someone to sleep just by being near them. She felt as if Ace was behind her supporting her.

She felt free again in her nightmare costume, powerful and feared. Nightmare had only one purpose make it clear that the Anarchists were still at large and that what the Renegades had done to Ace had done nothing but make them angry. She was probably only ten feet from Renegade HQ, on a roof of a building facing the front entrance. Nova was hiding behind a chimney with her loaded gun in hand. There were only three gaurds at the entrance, when she was done only one would survive. In a millisecond Nightmare stood and shot twice in quick succession. Two of the gaurds were now dead, then she shot the tower, right in the middle. Where the bullet hit the building a web of cracks expanded into the glass. Then she was gone. A minute later Nova was back in civilian clothing, rushing towards HQ. 

"What happened?" Nova asked "I heard gunshots!"

"Nightmare" said the surviving guard. "She came and she had Ace Anarchy's helmet" 

"Come" said Nova "we have to tell the council" Nova stepped over the dead bodies of the other gaurds, she had finnaly been able to pull the trigger. When they entered the building the ran into Blacklight.

"Nightmare just killed my teammates" the gaurd breathed, "we need to mobilize a team to go after her!" Blacklight spoke into his watch calling for one of the patrol teams that Nova had never heard of. "She was wearing Ace Anarchy's helmet" added the guard, Nova needed to learn her name. Evander cursed under his breath, thanks Netter. Ok weird name Nova thought, then realized that it was her Alias. He began to walk away but he turned around and said,

"Nova we need to talk" Nova tensed up hearing those words was never good. "Why are you and your team always envolved when things like this happen?" He asked as they got on the elevator. He pressed one pf the buttons and entered a code. 

"Honestly sir I have no I am beginning to ask myself the same question" Nova responded inwardly groaning at how cliche it sounded. But Evander seemed too busy with something on his watch to notice how cheesey her answer had been. "I have called for the rest of you team we will meet in ten minutes. The Elevator dinged open and Nova found herself once again in the Council's meeting room, and Nova had to repress a smirk when Blacklight's jaw dropped. He had noticed the bullet hole and giant maze of cracks in the glass wall of the room. Nova had known which room she had been aiming for. She had known what kind of message it would send. She knew their weakness, she could always get to them.

"H-how" Evander stuttered "no one who hasn't been in this room would know where the council's meeting room is" the super hero was starting to panic "we need fo do something, how could she know?"

Just then Hugh, Simon, and Adrian entered the room, and much to Nova's hidden delight their jaws hit the ground and they joined the panicking Blacklight, the same was true when Tsunami, Oscar, Thunderbird, and Ruby came.

"Nightmare attacked?" Adrian practically shouted when Nova had finished telling them what she "knew" .

"So it seems" said Adrians dad, the invincible Captain Chromium. It took all of Nova's will power not to let her expression sour whenever she layed eyes on him. "But you will NOT be investigating" he continued "we have already assigned this case to an adult team"

Adrian looked like he wanted to protest but his dads gave him a look that made him instantly back down, here they weren't Dad and Pops they were Captain Chromium and the Dread Warden.

Narrator POV 

They all waited around until 2:30 they had patrol about tree blocks from the cathedral. They had all argued against doing patrol there because of what had gone down there only three days ago, but no one had listened. No one knew why Nova hadn't wanted to come but they assumed she had her reasons. The area was historically dangerous and they were likely to see some action this evening.
