I wouldn't say I'm a selfish person. However, there were a few times in my life where I was selfish. Was this one of those times? Perhaps it was.

Damon, my eldest sibling, was planning on taking the cure and becoming human so that he could live a normal life with his girlfriend.

I almost laughed when I heard he wanted to be human. I thought, 'this must be a joke.'

You see, Damon loved being a vampire. He loved the speed, the feed, the mind control and everything else that came along with it.

Elena didn't believe that he really wanted to be human, she thought he was just doing it to make her happy. She asked Stefan and I to try and talk him out of it, she didn't want him to turn human and change his mind a few years down the line.

I had to admit, I didn't want Damon to be human either. I couldn't bare the thought of me being able to live forever and having to watch him grow old and eventually die. So, yes perhaps it was selfish of me to talk him out of turning human, but it was also what's best for him.

Stefan and I had decided to take Damon away for the day and show him how it would be, living a normal human life.

"Sure Ric, I'll be your best man! But first, I have to let my brother and sister kidnap me on the day of your wedding." Damon glared from the backseat of the car as Stefan and I sat upfront.

"Hey, don't you hate weddings anyway?" I questioned, turning to face my brother, who had a rather annoyed look plastered on his face.

"I hate little Stefan and Ellie mind games even more." He told me, causing me to roll my eyes. "So anytime you wanna clue me in as to where the hell we're going..."

"Oh come on." Stefan encouraged, as he drove down the suburban street, filled with white picket fences and large from yards. "It's your last few days as a vampire. You can't blame us for wanting to spend some time with our brother. Ah look, here we are."

"Is Mr. Rogers expecting us?" Damon rolled his eyes as we pulled into a driveway and got out from the car to see a large beautiful house.

"You know Mr. Rogers is dead, right?" I asked, making my way over to the house.

"Yeah well you're going to be joining him in Make-Believe if you don't get to the damn point." Damon said, glaring between Stefan and I.

"This is a house I lived in during one of my many attempts to start over." Stefan told us as he motioned towards the house.

"Ah." I sighed. "Welcome to your suburban nightmare."

Damon turned to us, narrowing his eyes. "You don't think I've thought this through?"

"Well, I think you've thought about a life with Elena. I don't think you've thought about neighbours or mortgage or kids... I don't know, might not be your thing." Stefan shrugged, walking towards the front door.

"Yeah it's nice." Damon nodded his head as he walked around the house, almost as if he was inspecting it. "Brazilian hardwoods, open floor plan... Updated kitchen. What kind of roadkill are you cooking in there?" He then asked, motioning towards the microwave.

"Well considering the fact that you actually have to eat as human, I just wanted to give you a little taste of what your dinner is going to look like." Stefan told Damon as he opened the microwave, taking out the rather disgusting ready-made meal. "You don't cook, Elena doesn't cook."

"Who has time anyway with work and kids, right?" I chimed in.

"Mmm." Stefan hummed as Damon looked at the meal. "Salisbury steak. Dig in, Damon. You're gonna need all that energy for these."
