Recap

"What happened to you not wanting us to fight anymore?" I ask boldly.

He moves his eyes from mine. "You're right, which is why it's best we don't." He says curtly.

Zion rolls over facing his back towards me. My lips purse. "Are you serious right now?" I ask him.

"Goodnight Nessa." He says his tone dry.

I let out a humorless laugh. "Goodnight Zion."

My teeth clenched wanting to scream him out. Only he knew how to agitate me, and I didn't know if that was a good or bad thing.

The morning after I awoke to an almost empty bus aside from the exception of Nick. "Where's everybody?" I ask my voice laced with confusion.

Nick puts down his phone. "Morning to you too." I roll my eyes. "Sorry, good morning Nicholas."

He smiles. "That's more like it, but to answer you're question they're all gone." I scoff. "Thanks captain obvious I figured that on my own."

Nick laughs. "Oh you wanted details? My bad." I let out a laugh with his teasing. "Austin left with his family early morning, Brandon had a music idea, so the rest of the guys went with him." I nod at the new information.

"Why didn't you go with?" I ask my head tilting to the side. "Because then there'd be no one here to answer your questions." He gets up bumping his hip with mine.

"Now get ready, we're meeting up with them at the studio." I smile excitedly before parting away to the bathroom trying to make it a fast process—though it was pretty hard since I still had to shower.

"Time?" I shout trying to make it reach to wherever Nick was. "Forty Minutes!" He says his voice sounding distant at first.

"Damn, sorry I tried to make it fast." I tell him, quickly putting on my shoes to not waste more time.

Nick dismisses me with a wave. "No need to apologize ma, but let's go." He says jabbing a thumb behind him.

We walk out of the bus, feeling the nice air of North Carolina—the sun rays lighting the sky.

"It's a nice day." I say aloud making Nick nod in agreement. "Yeah it is, tonight's show is gonna be a vibe."

I raise a brow. "A vibe huh?" Nick pushes my shoulder. "Stop making fun of my vocabulary choices." I laugh. "Maybe Zion's rubbing off one you."

Nick ignores my statement diverting to another topic. "Speaking of Zion, what happened last night?" He asks, his voice curious.

I turn to face him instead of my shoes meeting his gaze. "I already told you, he was on the phone, so we didn't get to talk."

He gives me a look. "Yeah I knew that. I'm saying after you said goodnight to us." I frown. "Why are you so curious?"

Nick raises his hands in defense. "Aye I mean you don't got to tell me—I just mean he was off last night, and this morning." I go to speak, but he continues. "And don't think I didn't see your shift of mood after telling us he was on the phone."
