"Carli." A hand shook my shoulder, waking me up from the deep sleep I had been in.
My eyes opened slowly, adjusting to the lights. I was still in the process of waking up, so I couldn't really remember where I was or what was going on. My brain felt like mush. I was exhausted.
"You fell asleep waiting for Tyler and Willow." My eyes shifted upwards to see Lucas standing over me. I sat forward and stretched my arms, wincing at the pain in my neck. Sleeping in a chair has it's consequences.
Tyler and Willow had went out with Simon and Negan to attack the Hilltop. They both had no idea that it was a murderous trip so they didn't take part in any of it. Ever since then, they have been missing.
"Have you heard anything? Are they back?" I asked, trying to stand but wobbled as I was still half asleep. Lucas grabbed me quickly, stopping me from plummeting to the concrete. I looked around to see the main room quiet, all the workers either still asleep or just waking up. My eyes flickered to the open garage door to see the sun rising and the sky turning that pink color I loved.
"It's been quiet all night. I'm sorry I let you fall asleep but you were exhausted. Rightfully so. The last few days have been stressful on you so I figured I would let you sleep. I was going to carry you up to your room but if Negan saw you in my arms, in his room," He chuckled lightly and I joined him. Yeah, it wouldn't turn out great.
"It's okay. Where is he?" I asked, looking around for any signs of the bat swinging maniac that I loved. Lucas looked around too, showing me that he didn't know either. The last time I saw him was when I cleaned his wounds after his fight with Simon. After that he told me he had things to take care of so I came down to the main room to wait for Tyler and Willow. They still hadn't showed.
"Not sure. The last time I saw him was a couple hours ago. He came down to check on you before walking off saying he had 'loads of shit to do'." Lucas shrugged and I nodded. My heart warmed at the thought of Negan coming down to see me, only to find me sleeping. Images of him kissing my forehead or stroking my face as I slept flashed through my mind, making me smile.
The bones in my legs cracked and I winced at the sound as I stood up. I sounded like an old woman.
"I'm going to see if I can find him. Will you please let me know if you hear anything?" I asked, my eyes meeting Lucas'.
"Of course." I gave him a quick side hug and started off towards Negan's room.
The hallway was desolate as I made my way upwards. I found myself already missing him.
Negan acted as a drug for me. If I went too long without him, I started to get anxious. The more I got of him, the more I wanted. I wanted to be with him all the time. 24/7. He was addictive. I know I sound crazy, but I can't help it. I guess that's what love does to you.
"Negan?" I called out as I pushed open the door to his office. My nerves relaxed right as I stepped in to the familiar setting. I loved his room.
"In here." My heart rate sky rocketed when I heard his voice. It had literally been about 8 hours since I saw him last but his voice sounded like music to my ears. I was having withdrawals of him. His voice. His touch. His smell. His warmth. Everything.
My eyes lit up when I saw him sitting at the large desk in his office, maps and papers strewn in front of him. His glasses sat on the tip of his nose as he looked down, obviously involved in something important. The clicking of a pen could be heard as he pushed the tip up and down several times. He seemed tense.
The door shut softly behind me as I walked towards him. He didn't look up, his focus staying solely on whatever the hell he was working on.
I leaned down behind him, wrapping my arms around his neck from behind. That addicting peppermint smell floated upwards from him, making me close my eyes as I sat my head on his shoulder. I turned my head to the left and placed a soft kiss to the skin of his neck. He chuckled lightly, his pen dropping from his hand and on to the papers.
