I watched, frozen in terror as hundreds, maybe even thousands, of walkers emerged from the woods. They just kept coming one after the other. My head ached from the recent hair pulling that a walker had inflicted on me while I was in the pickup. Negan was at a loss for words. He must not have dealt with this many before. I hadn't either, even with the herd in Alexandria.

"We need to move now. I don't have anything other than Lucille and a knife. The weapons didn't come along with us. In total we probably have about 5 guns, 20 rounds each." He said after thinking for a couple minutes. The herd hadn't fully swarmed the vehicle yet, but were coming close. A few were up against the windows, clawing at the glass.

"How? Where do we even go? We'll never make it." I said nervously looking around. He looked to me and pulled my face to his. The kiss was fast but soft. He pulled pack and looked into my eyes.

"We'll make it. I won't let anything happen to you." His brown eyes searched my face, waiting for approval or understanding. I breathed out shakily and nodded, his hand still cupping my cheek. His walkie talkie was dead so he couldn't make contact with anyone behind us. I saw fast movement in the side view mirrors out of the corner of my eye. I snapped my gaze and squinted. They were leaving us.

"They're leaving, Negan. They are leaving us." I gasped out and he followed my gaze. His face turned into a scowl and he gripped onto Lucille.

"Fucking bastards." He growled as he watched them screech away in the trucks. They better hope and pray that Negan doesn't survive this because if he does, every single one of them is dead.

I was looking around frantically and scared. I did not want to die this way. Being ripped apart while my heart was still beating. A couple tears fled down my face but I wiped them away quickly. His hands were on my face again as he held me in place. His dark brown eyes bore into mine.

"Listen to me. When we see an opening, we go. Don't slow down and don't look back. We just need to fucking go." He instructed me, looking into my eyes hard. I breathed out and nodded. I clutched the knife tightly in my hand and scooted closer to him. He watched the herd closely, waiting for our chance. There was a lull in the group of rotting corpses and he had his hand on the door handle. He pushed open the door and climbed out, me following close behind.

He swung Lucille at a couple of them that noticed and I plunged the knife into a walker that almost took me down. He started running and I took off behind him. He shoved corpses out of the way and onto the ground. Multiple hands tried grabbing me but I dodged them swiftly and kept running. We were heading down the road quickly, killing walkers here and there and ducking away from their grasps. My wound was throbbing in pain but I kept running as fast as I could. My lungs were on fire.

There was a thick group of them in our path and Negan switched directions to avoid them. He caught their attention and by the time he passed them, they noticed me. About 4 pairs of hands tried to grab me and one of them grabbed hold of my shirt. I yelped and tried pushing it away but it wouldn't budge. My hand pushed against it's shoulder and the skin beneath my palm started to give in. Pretty soon my hand sunk into it's body, into the rotting flesh and blood. I scrunched my nose up and scowled, all while trying to get away.

"Duck!" Negan yelled. My eyes widened as he started to swing Lucille towards me. I followed his orders and ducked down. The bat smashed into it's skull, sending the biter onto the ground. I breathed out but it didn't last long because I was running again behind him. We were almost home free and out of the herd when one stepped in Negan's path. He held Lucille in front of him and shoved it forward.
