Versus

Chapter 2

My stomach started doing flips and I felt like my heart was pounding through my chest. I got smiles and waves from other employees, which did not help my stomach. I walked into the achievement hunter office.

                “Guys this is my sister Candace” Gavin said shoving me in the room. I smiled and did a little wave.

                “She’s even hotter than you described her to be” Ray said laughing. Gavin shot him a glare and everyone laughed including me. He walked over to his desk and sat down. I stood there awkwardly not knowing what to do.

                “You can sit on the couch if you want you don’t need to just stand” Geoff said with a laugh.

                “I mean you can sit here” Michael said gesturing to his lap. Gavin reached over and hit him on the head. I laughed and sat on the couch. The guys started filming a let’s play I watched and laughed as they goofed around. I walked behind ray and leaned over his shoulder I watched him as he grabbed a jet. I leaned my head on his shoulder and his focused face turned into a smile. I felt a hand wrap around my wrist. I looked at it and followed the arm to find Michael. He gently pulled me toward him and I melted into his touch never losing his gaze. I didn’t realize what I was doing when I gently sat in his lap. Everyone was too busy in the game to realize what was happening between us. Michael fiddled with his controller moving his character into a car and driving around. We sat silently everyone laughing and talking around us.

                “Let’s stop!” Geoff yelled. I subconsciously laid my head back to rest onto Michael’s chest. His breathing relaxed me. I closed my eyes just for a second breathing in Michael’s sent. I felt someone rip me from my comfort my eyes flying open to see my very red faced brother. He grabbed me and pulled me from the office. He shoved me into the hall and slammed the door as he walked back in. I knew he started yelling, I couldn’t make out what he was yelling. I knew he was yelling at Michael. I slid my back against the door anxiety rushing over me. I like Ray. I liked Ray. No. I like Ray. I always liked Ray. Michael. I like Michael. No. I like Ray. Michael. Ray. Michael. Ray. Michael. Ray.

                The light in front of me disappeared as a figure approached in front of me. I looked up to see Caleb. He helped me up and gave me a hug. I began to sob into him. He rocked me back and forth and drew circles on my back. I sat with Caleb the rest of the day. He relaxed me and I could already tell that Caleb was going to be my lifesaver.
