Versus

Chapter 6

I finished what I needed to in the bathroom and began to walk back. I stopped at the door looking in to my brother's face red and a tomato and looking through my phone. He shoved the phone in front of Michael's face yelling at him things I should probably not repeat. Caleb walked in and I immediately ran to him. I didn't care about my phone or my stuff right now. He embraced me as my brothers yells rang through the mostly empty building. Caleb tried to take me to his desk but that ment passing the room. We started anyway and as soon as we were about to pass the door I began  hyperventilating Caleb let me sit down there was really nothing else he could do I couldn't breath. The door behind me opened but I was so focused on breathing I didn't bother to look. Caleb expression went from a sympathetic one to a protective one I still didn't bother to look. My brothers yelling was now in the hall. I felt two arms pick me up. My brother's yelling only intensified and couldn't breathe any more and I passed out.

I woke up in a car. It was not Geoff's. I still found it difficult to breathe or move. This resulted in me slouched in the back of someone's car and I didn't know who. The car stopped.

"Thanks Barb for the ride I owe you," the male voice said and I knew my knight in shining arm.

"No problem Ray take good care of her," she replied. The door next to me was opened and I was lifted out of it. Ray walked to his apartment with me in his arms. He fiddled with the keys in his pocket trying not to drop me. He pulled them out and shoved them into the door and opening it. He gently laid me on the couch. My breathing slowly became regular as I layed there. Noises from the kitchen made me jump a little. I tried sitting up and Ray rushed to my side. Ray stood there making sure I was okay.

"Do you need anything," He asked pushing a piece of hair from my face and gently placing it behind my ear.

"Can I have some water please" my voice sounded small and frail. Ray immediately got up and grabbed a glass filling it with water and rushing back over to me. He handed it to me and sat down.

"Are you sure your okay, do you need and anything," he asked the worried tone still in his voice.

"Ray please I'm perfectly fine but thank you," I smiled at him wishing he would be less concerned.

"So now that we are both stuck here we might as well do something," I said standing to look at all of the games he had. Ray still considered rushed to my side. I sat on the floor looking through his little book shelf of games. I traced my finger over them scanning the titles. Ray grabbed one off the shelf and put it in the Xbox and sat down. I followed him. The Halo 3 title screen popped up and he handed me a controller. We began to play the co-op when Ray got a call. I paused it and he answered.

"Yes....she is fine....she is fine....Gavin she is fine.....we are just playing halo.....Gav seriously she is perfectly fine....okay bye," Ray talked into the phone only getting more annoyed as the call went on. I laughed when he hung up and he threw the phone to the other end of the couch. We continued to play.

"Holy shit," Ray sayed as we finished another level.

"What"

"It's five"

"So"

"I was supposed to take you back over to the office"

"Nah I like better here I don't really want a mouthful from my brother"

"But now he is gonna kill me"

"Don't worry I won't let him," Ray smiled and grabbed his phone calling for pizza as we started the next level. Ray set the phone down and swore at the snipper that shot him. I paused the game as the door bell rang. Ray answered it and grabbed the pizza from the guy. He set it down on the counter and I took a couple pieces. We both sat back down on the couch. once we finished we began to play again and a couple hours later I began to feel sleep set in. I leaned into Ray smiling. He looked at the time and got up and moved to his desk set up. I exited out and turned off his xbox. He set up his stream stuff and turned on outlast.

"You don't have to stay here," he said turning the chair to face me.

"I think I will be okay," there was a knock at the door. I walked over as Ray checked everything over once more.

"Geoff," I questioned opening the door.

"Gavin is pretty pissed off and despite what he says please stay here I brought your backpack, I don't really know what's in it but here," he handed me the back pack and my phone.

"Bye," he said walking away.

"Bye see you at work tomorrow and thank you," I said closing the door and walking back over to Ray. I looked through my bag and fished out my laptop. I loaded twitch and Ray started to stream adding me as moderator. He continued on with the stream untill about one in the morning. Ray said good bye set up the raid and turned off everything. I shut my laptop off digging through my bag looking for any clothing I could find. I didn't find anything. Ray walked into his bedroom then back out with a vav shirt and some athletic shorts.

"These are gonna be big on you but it is all I really have" he said handing me the clothes. I took them and walked to his bathroom. I took a short shower and put on the clothes. I walked out ray to see ray laying on the couch with his X-ray shirt and some shorts. I laughed.

"The beds all yours I will sleep on the couch" Ray says pulling a blanket over him.

"No Ray its your bed"

"Candace no I will be fine"

"We can both sleep in the bed" I said, my face began to feel hot and I knew I was blushing. Ray began to blush, he got up and walks in his room and I followed. He got in one side of the bed and I crawled in the other side. Ray pulled me into his chest. His steady heart beat relaxed me. My eyes began to feel heavier and heavier.

"Candace...I love you" Ray whispered in my ear. I slipped into sleep.
