The Date

Reggie and Kaelyn met up on Saturday, she was dazzling in a black slinky dress and strappy sandals. Her hair was done up into aloose chignon with tendrils falling about, framing her face. Her ruby red lips were enhanced by fire-engine red lipstick. 

Reggie felt his breath taken away when she stepped out of her car and towards him, where he was waiting while leaning on the hood. 

She walked up to him.

Kae: Don't mind if my guys follow along. Daddy's rules.

Reg: Don't mind at all. You look.....(breathes out) stunning.

Kae: Thank you.

Reggie reached over and pecked her cheek, and she his. He opened the car door for her and she stepped in, and he closed the door gingerly. They drove over to his nightclub in the East End.

Kaelyn walked in with Reg arm-in-arm.

Kae: Oooh, an Astor walking into Kray's club, will I be in trouble?

Reg: (leaning down and whispering close to her) Only if you want to be.

Reggie greeted people around the club, Kaelyn took the opportunity to look at the crowd. She spotted a few prominent politicians and lesser known starlets around, some physically imposing men supposing they are working for the Krays or boxers. She knew Reggie used to box and he remained close to his boxing partners. Then Albie called Reg away, for "important business" 

Reg: (gesturing at Kae to Albie at the side) This is important business. Very important business.

Alb: I'm sorry, but this needs to be settled.

Reg: You settle it, I'm not leaving my date alone.

Alb: Is that Kaelyn Astor?

Reg: Yeah, and this is our first date, and you're ruining it.

Alb: Sorry Reg, just 5 minutes.

Reg: (pointing at Frank) Frank go sit with Kaelyn first, make sure Ron doesn't get near her. She has 2 guards behind and I don't want trouble.

Reggie went over to Kaelyn and apologised, she smiled and waved him away.

Kae: No matter, just go settle it. I know how it is. (smiling knowingly)

Reggie couldn't resist but pecked her again, and headed off to settle some dispute / incident. He came back 3 minutes later, rubbing his knuckles. He patted Frank's shoulder and Frank got up and left. He sat back down.

Kae: (looking at him) Settled?

Reg: Yeah, sorry about that.

The waiter served them drinks.

Kae: Thank you.

Reg: (raising his glass) Cheers.

They whispered to each other all night to hear each other over the music. Then they drove back to West End and walked by the river arm-in-arm. They ended down at Tower Bridge where Kaelyn had to say goodbye.

Reggie looked at her longingly, she was so beautiful. All eyes were on him that night because she was with him. Even passerbys at the riverside cast them envious looks. He deserve a woman like Kaelyn. A powerful, smart and beautiful woman like her.

Kae: I had a great time.

Reg: Can I see you again?

Kae: Of course.

Reg: Tomorrow then. Let's go for a picnic, in broad daylight so your buffoons don't have to follow.

Kae: (laughing) They're not buffoons. Max and Mike are like my older brothers. They have watched me since I was a toddler.

Reg: What is it like?

Kae: What is what like?

Reg: To grow up in a gangster family?

Kae: You grow up watching over your shoulders and picking your friends carefully. You don't trust anyone outside of the family. Other than that it was all rosy.

Reg: (laughing) You're funny. You're a smart funny girl.

Kae: I'll see you tomorrow. Pick me up here then. 9am?

Reg: You got it. I'll go get Fiona's pancakes for us.

 Kae:Mmmm....you sure know how to plan a date. Goodnight Reggie.

She tiptoed and kissed him on his lips. He kissed her back a little deeper and longer. Then she pulled away and into her waiting car.
