"Cause every time I ran,
I ran to you.
I meant it every time I said I loved you."

....

It wasn't as easy and slipping the cards into her locker.
The text was easy, I hadn't expected a response from her to that, but the present was the struggle.
It was broad daylight when I arrived at her front door with the slim box in my hands.
I looked around the car park and let go of a relieved sigh when I saw only empty cars.
I knelt down and put the ribbon sealed box beside the brick wall of the steps.
I loved her house, it really did suit her and her mother.
I crawled along the bricks and held tightly onto the box.
Was I ready to leave her such a gift?
I had to give her something before I left.
I closed my eyes and nursed the box to my chest.
Yes, go, leave it.
Put the box down, and go.
My phone started to vibrate silently in my pocket and I jerked and dropped the box.
For a few moments I stared at it, mentally checking for any damage to its beautiful wrappings.
Dark blue-green, teal, her favourite colour.
There wasn't a card this time; just a small message card. I was working on something else to give her, something that took time.

I bit my lip and crawled back to the steps, pushing the box along the wooden patio until it sat at the corner of the brick walls; protected from any weather, and addressed sweetly to her.

Adora.

Cursive writing was exactly how her name sounded.

Delicate, beautiful, fragile.

My phone started to vibrate again and I hurried off the front porch down the driveway towards the highway.
