"The moonlight plays so soft on her skin,
And she's singing, he's sinking-it's the sweetest sin"

...

Dodge followed the police down the highway. The rain was flicked from his windshield and his heart was pounding.
Will had called him and told him that Marti had kidnapped Adora.
The phone had gone dead after that, before Will had been able to say anything else.
Police cars had scattered, some heading to the next town over, ready to turn off the highway onto other roads, and the ones Dodge followed now heading out of town from the cliffs. They passed the car park of the cove and his stomach sank as their headlights flashed on nothing.

No car waiting, that meant Marti and Adora were in Iain's car.

At least it was safe, airbags and seatbelt pulls.
They weren't five minutes from the cliff car park when the police ahead pulled over and Dodge parked behind them.
He hurried to open his door and came around the patrol car and saw in it's flashing lights, Iain's car crushed against the rock wall beside the road.

"Adora!" He screamed and ran towards the car.

He could hear the police on the radio, calling for an ambulance. He saw the shattered glass and looked from the driver's slumped figure to the passenger.
Marti's face was cut up by the glass, resting more towards the window than her airbag.
He put a hand gently on the driver's shoulder and looked at the blood on Adora's dress.
His stomach twisted with fear. "Adora?" He gently put his other hand behind her head and moved her head from the steering wheel's deflated airbag to the back of the seat.
There was a lot less blood on Adora's face compared to Marti's, but there was a cut on her arm, which had fallen off the steering wheel. "Adora?" He gently put his hand to her forehead and shook her shoulder.

"We'll take it from here, Dodge." He hadn't noticed how fast the ambulance had arrived.

He stepped away from his brother's car and started searching the dark back seat for Iain.
He wasn't there.
Adora groaned as the medics lifted her from the car onto the stretcher. Dodge left Iain's car and moved to her side as they rolled it through the rain to the ambulance.
"I'm here." He put his hand on hers as she was hooked up. "Marti did this, she needs to be under guard." He told the officers as they lifted the gurney up into the ambulance. "And find my brother!"
He watched as the doors closed and a paramedic started to treat his youngest cousin.
Where was Iain? He'd been with the girls, Will hadn't had time to say much other than Marti had kidnapped Adora.
Where was Will?

Adora's eyes fluttered and Dodge felt relief weighing his panic down.
"I'm here, Adora." He said giving her hand a squeeze.
"The cove." She breathed.
The cove? Where they were planning the photo shoot. Was that where Iain and Will were?
"Can we send another ambulance to check the cove? They were meant to be doing photos there before the dance. Iain might be there." Dodge looked up to the medic as an IV was hooked into Adora's arm and they started to clean the cut on her arm.
"We'll go back once we've gotten her to emergency. The other ambulance was on its way to the crash scene for the other girl."
"We only have two?" For a few moments Dodge had forgotten the small size of their town.
"Unfortunately still, yes." The medic wrapped Adora's arm and started to clean the small cuts on her head. "She's lucky."
"What about the other girl?" Dodge felt sick asking about Marti, but part of him still had to.
"I didn't get a look at her. I can't say. Are you going to stay with this one?"
"Yes." Dodge hadn't even thought about whether he would leave Adora to find his brother until he answered. "I need to call her mother." He shakily pulled his mobile out of his pocket, his other hand still holding Adora's.

The call was panicked and ended with dead air as he heard Anne rushing in their kitchen on the other end of the line.
She would be at the hospital not long after they were. He hung up and looked over his calls.
He'd answered Will because he'd called from Adora's phone, he'd been taken by surprise to hear Will reply to his greeting.
He tried to call Adora's phone back, but it went straight to the message saying the phone was out of reach or turned off.
He saw the hospital appear before them and let the paramedics wheel the gurney into the emergency entrance before he found his legs and ran to catch up.
