This Time

Camila's Pov

I was sitting on Lauren's window staring at the cars passing by while waiting for her to wake up.

I kept glancing at her and she still hasn't moved. I looked at her clock and it's 4:28pm.

She's been sleeping for 9 fucking hours.

I walked closer to her and sat on her bed. I caressed her hand and I frowned. Her warm hands are now cold.

"Lo.." I said waking her up.

"Lauren" I tried again but nothing.

I examined her body and realized she's not breathing.

"Lauren!" I yelled.

I was panicking. I tried to hold and shake her but I can't..

Fuck..

"God.. please no.." I said as I pace back and forth in her room.

"Lauren.. wake up baby." I said as I started crying.

I heard a soft knock on the door and it opened slowly.

"Lauren honey.. we need to go for your daily check up" Her mom walked slowly towards her.

"Honey.." She held Lauren's arm and flinched at the coldness of her skin.

"Lauren? Sweetie?" She cupped Lauren's cheeks.

"Mike!!!" She yelled startling me as I stare at my Lauren.

I don't want her to die. But why does it feel like it's... meant to be.

"Oh no..no.." Her mom cried and her dad ran inside her room.

"What happened?!" He asked with panic in his eyes when he saw Lauren in his wife's arms.

"Come on" He carried Lauren and ran outside the door.

After the doctor announced that Lauren was gone. My legs felt so weak making me sat on the floor.

"No.. no.." I cried hugging my knees.

"What happened?! You said that she was perfectly fine!" Her mom yelled as she cried.

"She was Mrs. Jauregui.. she was perfectly fine when she went home yesterday..but may I ask.. is there any accident that caused her to hit her head and passed out?" The doctor asked and I looked up.

I remembered her falling down the stairs and hitting her head.

"Well.. she fell and hit her head on the floor. She said that she was fine so we didn't say anything." Her dad said and the doctor sighed.

"And she fell asleep after that?" The doctor asked and Lauren's parents nodded.

"That was a lucid interval.. when a person hits her head badly she'll have a concussion..if a person fell asleep after a concussion there'll be a buildup of plaque in the inner wall of the blood vessels... Plaque can roughen and deform the artery wall, causing blood clots to form and blocking blood flow to the brain.. That's what Lauren had" The doctor explained.

"No..no" her parents cried

"I'm so sorry for your loss" The doctor said and Lauren's mom was silent. Like she can't believe that Lauren's gone..

I ran out the hospital with tears in my eyes.

I sat under a tree and hugged my knees as I cried my heart out.

"You left me" I muttered and sobbed.

"No I didn't"

I heard a raspy voice that calms me immediately. I looked up and saw a smiling Lauren.

"Remember when I first met you?" She asked and I just stared at her while I nodded my head.

"Well.. " She said pointing at the tree and I smiled.

"I..uhh..i d-don't" I stuttered and she giggled.

"I don't want to leave my parents.. but this is it Camz.. i tried to get back but I can't" She said and sitting down beside me.

"Because it's time" I said and she nodded.

"So you're here because of me?" Lauren asked and I smiled

"Maybe.. maybe I was the one to pick you up here and walk with you to the light.. I think that's my mission" I said and she sighed.

"And you made me a better person Camz.. thank you" Lauren said

"At least you had the chance to tell your parents you love them" I said looking at the ground.

"You did too.. " Lauren said and I smiled looking at her bright emerald eyes

"Thanks to you" I whispered and she smiled.

"Let's go?" Lauren asked and I looked at her confused

She pointed her finger on a bright light in front of us and I smiled.

Is this it? Am I really leaving this world with the love of my life?

I stood up and offered my hand to help her which she took.

"Cold" She said and I frowned at our hands.

"Cold?" I asked and she giggled.

"Just kidding baby.. It's warm and soft" Lauren said and I rolled my eyes.

"You really are my angel.. my beautiful angel" Lauren said and I smiled.

"And you're mine" I said kissing her cheek.

"Holy shit.. you just kissed my cheek.. for real" She exclaimed making me giggle.

"Now we can do whatever we want" I said smirking at her.

"Naughty.." She said as we walked to the light.

I laughed and squeezed her hand.

"Now I can grab your ass.." Lauren said and I laughed.

"Do that and I'll drop you to hell" I said

"Rude.." she said and I laughed.

"Just kidding babe" I said and she smiled.

"As long as you're with me.. I don't care" Lauren said and I smiled

"I'm always with you... forever Lo"

"Forever.. my Camz"
