Poor Baby

We were sitting in the waiting room feeling scared and worried about Lauren.

Mrs. Jauregui just calmed down after crying for 30mins while her husband holds her.

"I'm just gonna go to the ladies room" Dinah said standing up and Lauren's parents nodded.

She looked at my shadow and nod her head telling me to come with her.

We entered the ladies room and she looked down the stalls to check if we're alone.

"Camila.. are you here?" Dinah asked

How can I answer?.. she can't see or hear me

She opened the faucet and let the water run down the sink.

"Turn it off if yes and on if no" She said and I nodded.

Clever

"So are you here?" She asked

*off*

"Good.. can you see what they're doing to Lauren?"

*on*

"Why? You're the only one who can do it" She asked and I shook my head no.

"I don't like to see her like that.." I said but she can't hear me.

"Okay... it was worth a try" Dinah said walking out the door.

"I'm sorry" I whispered

.....

We waited for 5 hours before the doctor arrived.

"Lauren Jauregui?" He called and we all stood up.

"Is my daughter okay?" Lauren's mom asked and the doctor nodded.

"She's okay now.. we've removed all the water in her lungs. She's resting now and you can see her" The doctor said

"So what happened?.. why is there water in her lungs?" Dinah asked and we all looked at the doctor.

"She had Pulmonary edema.. it's caused by a congestive heart failure" The doctor said and we all frowned.

"What is that?" I asked

"We need more information doc" Dinah said and the doctor seemed intimidated by her.

"When the heart is not able to pump efficiently, blood can back up into the veins that take blood through the lungs. As the pressure in these blood vessels increases, fluid is pushed into the air spaces in the lungs" The doctor said and we nodded.

No no no

"Did you know that she has heart arrhytmia?" The doctor asked

"No.. this is the first time that she had water in her lungs" Lauren's dad said and the doctor nodded.

"And what is that?" Dinah asked

"Its a group of conditions in which the heartbeat is irregular, too fast, or too slow. We're gonna run some tests tomorrow to figure out what kind of heart arrhytmia Ms. Jauregui have.. We'll just leave her  to rest for the day and check up on her every hour.. she's in her room now.. Nurse Ally will take you to her" The doctor said  smiling at Lauren's parents.

"Thank you Doctor Puth" Dinah said and he nodded.

"Ms. Ally please show them Ms. Jauregui's room" Doctor Puth said and the nurse nodded.

"Please follow me" She said walking out the room.

We followed her to the 4th floor of the building and in a private room.

She opened the door and Lauren was laying on the bed with tubes and chords connected to her body.

Poor baby

I walked closer to her examining her body.

She was so pale. And her pink perfect lips are now dry and lifeless.

Oh Lauren

"My poor baby" Lauren's mom sat beside her holding her hand while Dinah sat on the couch.

Her dad was standing on the other side of the bed with teary eyes.

"How come we never saw this coming?" He whispered.

"Maybe we're too busy thinking about the business that we didn't noticed" Lauren's mom said and her dad shook his head wiping the tear on his cheek.

"Baby.. I don't know if you can hear me.. but I'm so sorry.. you don't deserve this" Her mom whispered.

"Be strong baby.. we're gonna het through this" Her dad whispered holding her hand.

"I love you" Her mom whispered.

I leaned in closer to her ear and whispered.

"I hope you can hear me... we're here waiting for you okay? Everything's gonna be okay" I whispered and looked at Dinah.

She was staring at my shadow and smiling.

Everythings gonna be fine...
