Chapter 2

Lilly's P.O.V

My mother is dead. I can still hear John's words ringing in my ears. He didn't sound hurt, or upset, or even damaged at all.

"Your mother had an agressive heart tumor. She passed a few minutes ago."

I look down at my now shattered phone. It broke in the fall. Shes gone. She can't be. I'm only 16. I can't go to live with John. I just can't. She was the one who protected me from him. I'm an orphan. All I have left is Ash, but hes not going to be much help. Hes only 20, and on tour, and I barely knew him. He's Johns son. We used to be close when we were young. He was always so kind despite the four year age gap. I wa devastated when he left to go like with his mom when I was 12 and he 16.

The girls don't ask questions. They gather theirs and my stuff and bring me out to Michelles car. I have so much going through my head that I can't take the stress. The last thing I remember is the car door slam shut.

I wake up, with my head in Sara's lap laying on the borwn velvety couch at my house. Its warm and comforting. Then it hits me. 

"Wheres John?!" I jump up and shout, I'm lightheaded now.

"Well hes at the hospital. He rang about fifteen minutes ago but you were asleep. He was wondering how you were. I told him you were asleep and then he told me everything.... Lilly? Are you ok. Like I know you can't be... That was a stupid question. What I mean is there anythign I can do." Sara talks too much. Shes sweet but I don't need sweet right now. I need solidarity and quiet and calm.

"I'm fi-... No.. No I'm not fine. My mom is dead and I'm all alone. Can you stay with me tonight?" I start to cry into her lap. Her light grey jeans now have two black circles at the top of the thigh area. 

"Only if you ring John. He seems worried." she sighs and strokes my hair.

So I do. He tells me hes going back to england to stay with his mother after the funeral. He can't be here he says. He gives me a choice, Come with him or stay here and he will wire me money each month. I chose the second.
