Nicole's POV:
"No, baby. Not never, neva'. You don't pronounce the 'r'." I laughed at my crazy wife talking to Audrey.
"Love, stop teaching them the Australian accent. Let them speak as they wish." She looked at me with anger in her eyes.
"Just shut up." I shook my head and continued playing with Ethan when I heard Audrey.
"Hey Momma, why do you hate Mommy." Diane looked at me with a confused look in her eyes and got back to our daughter.
"What? I don't hate Mommy. What makes you say that?"
"I heard you screaming at Mommy last night. And then you used the 'f' word a lot. Like repeating it all the time." Oh my god. She heard us.
"Yeah, I heard it too. They were just playing a game, Audrey. Don't be stupid." Ethan jumped in and both Diane and I hung our mouth opet, not finding proper words.
"I'm not stupid. Then why were you playing the same game six times?" It was actually seven, but never mind.
"Look baby, we were just..." The phone rang and interrupted Diane trying to explain to our five year old twins why she was screaming my name in the middle of the night.
"Oh thank god." Diane mumbled through her teeth and got up to answer it.
After a few minutes, she came back and sat next to Audrey.
"Who was it?" I asked.
"The restaurant calling to confirm..." My pregnant wife held onto her stomach and cringed in pain.
"Babe, what's wrong?" I immediately jumped to her, holding her hand tight and hugging her over her shoulders.
"I don't know, it hurts so much... Aaaargh." She screamed in pain again.
"Okay, we need to get you to the hospital. Honey, go get Aunt Georgia." I pointed Ethan out and he ran fast. I picked her up bridal style and carried her out of the room. "Jacob! Ian!" The bodyguards flew in and I yelled at them. "Get the car ready, we need to go to the hospital."
As I carried her to the car and then put her on the back seat, I noticed blood all over my right hand. "Oh my god. Come on guys, hurry!" I turned to a crying Audrey who stood right behind me and kneeled in front of her.
"Momma is gonna be okay. You just stay here with your brother and your aunt, okay?" She nodded and I could see Georgia running up to me, holding Ethan's hand.
"What the hell happened?" She screamed.
"Just take care of the kids and I'll call you later."
"Okay."
I got into the car and held my sweaty, crying wife.
"Hold on, love. Everything will be okay."
...
The group of doctors stood in front of me and apologized and apologized. This can't be happening.
"We're so sorry. We did everything in our power. Unfortunately, he couldn't make it." One of my baby boys didn't survive the labor.
It was premature because Diane was only seven months pregnant and the twin that survived is super small. They're not even sure he can survive.
"You can see your other baby in a couple of hours. We'll make sure someone calls you. Until then, you can be with your wife. She's under a lot of medicine, so she also won't be awake for a couple of hours."
"Okay, thank you."
I waited for them to leave and the tears just started rolling my eyes. I wippes them quickly and went into Diane's room. I need to be strong right now. For her. And for our son.
