Chapter 7
At first I thought I was floating. Every movement felt so weightless and easy, trying to lure me back to sleep. I sighed relieved and just listened to the soft singing of somebody that was oddly soothing and comforting. I didn't understand any of the words but it was making me feel safe and cared for. I tried to fight the sleepiness and moving a little as I blinked my eyes open, looking around.
The first thing I saw was water. I cooed happily, stretching my finger out dip into it. I watched the water give way to my finger and form little waves that were expanding around it. I followed them with my eyes until I found a pair of legs underneath me and where there was a pair of legs there usually was a person attached to that. I flinched and tried to move back frantically before I looked up and was met with a pair of silver eyes.
Erebus was sitting at the part of the pool that was only a few feet deep, with the upper half of my body resting on his legs while my hips were hanging into the water right at the drop where the pool started to become deep. With the gravitational pull being reduced by the water my body wasn't hurting as much anymore. He had stopped singing and now watched me move carefully with a sad expression on his face, looking absolutely exhausted.
"I was healing you." He explained quietly. "Or the water was healing you, I'm just assisting it."
It made sense that he could accelerate my ability to be healed by contact with water or direct it with his magic. He probably jumpstarted them since otherwise they weren't working or at least taking way too long to show any progress. Others could heal themselves within minutes just by touching water and for me, it never did anything. I gave him a thankful smile, holding onto him while he continued to let his magic flow through me.
"Please let me stay with you." My voice sounded so little and it only reflected how I felt.
I didn't want to be forced to go outside into the scary world. I had learned what it could do to you and I didn't want to experience this again. He just nodded, brushing my wet hair out of my face and behind my ear. He stopped letting magic run through me after a while. I was still in pain and I kind of expected him to fully heal my wounds just like last time. I scolded myself for this selfish thought and decided to be more mindful in the future. He had saved me and he had healed me, this was more than anything I could ever ask for.
"I'm sorry, this is all I can do for now." He sighed before lifting me up with him.
He carried me upstairs and brought me to the room, I had woken up in on my first day here. It hadn't changed at all and that kind of made me sad. It looked like I had never left and I wished that were the case. He carefully put me down onto my feet and I was alleviated that I was able to stand on my own now. While my hip still ached and felt wobbly it seemed to have been reset. I tried to walk and while it was slow and painful procedure, I was able to shuffle around on my own.
"I will try to work on the rest of your wounds later." He promised.
He handed me a fresh pair of pyjamas and I just now realized I've had a change of clothing before. I tried not to think about it but I felt my skin crawl at the thought of someone undressing me and having me all exposed while I was unconscious. I began to wonder what else they had done to me and quickly found myself hyperventillating at the thought of them having their hands all over my body.
He seemed to notice that I was freaking out and took the clothes from me, setting them onto the bed before taking my face into his hands. I was unsure whether I liked this or if I was panicking further because he was having leverage on me now and could force me to do things. Which was stupid because he wouldn't have to touch me to make do things I didn't want to. But he didn't touch me and just held my head which weirdly enough managed to calm me down.
