Chapter 13
"You are avoiding me." Erebus accused me, standing in the door frame.
I had managed to make food, do the chores and manage grocery shopping without running into him for almost three days now. Apparently that pissed him off enough to now block me from leaving the room and I was very unsure of how far I could take this before he was going to get really angry. I just didn't want to be around him or talk to him right now but he didn't want to accept that.
"I need to make dinner, Sir." I huffed, trying to weasel myself past him but he wouldn't let me.
"No, you don't." He said, shoving me back into my room. "Thanatos and Alexios moved to their new home with their daughter. I'm not hungry. You are staying where you are and you are going to talk to me."
"Is that an order?" I grunted, crossing my arms in front of my chest.
He seemed to notice that I wasn unwilling to cooperate and started walking from on side of the room to the other side while running his fingers through his hair. He looked pretty stressed and I almost felt bad for him except I really didn't want to be confronted by him. I had yet to cope with the fact that I was this stupid and I still couldn't look at him without feeling ashamed and humiliated.
"No, that's not an order, it's a request." He finally said before he added onto that more softly. "Please."
I sighed and sat down on my bed, patting on the spot next to me. If I kept holding emergency meetings here, my matress was going to keep permanent imprints of all the butts that sat there. He sat down next to me, smiling as his gaze fell on the pictures of us that I had framed and put on the book shelf next to my bed. I used to think this was a good idea but now that I thought about it, I had the pictures of Nolan and Mateo in a box and not clearly displayed and I wanted the ground to swallow me hole.
"I think you misunderstood my intentions." He started, snapping me out of my thoughts. "I didn't intend to force myself on you."
"I didn't think that." I replied, furrowing my brows.
"Then why were you avoiding me?" He asked, looking directly at me.
"Because you don't want me and I don't want to be reminded of that." I sighed, avoiding his gaze. "I know it was stupid to try someting like that and I'm sorry. I won't do it again."
He stared at me, making me feel uncomfortable before pulling me into his arms, hugging me tightly to his chest. I didn't expect this to happen like this but I was going to go along with it if he that meant I wasn't going to get punished and honestly, I was enjoying this. I hugged him back, snuggling closely to his chest and savoring the feeling of his hands brushing over me as he rubbed my back.
"It's not that I don't want you, Caleb." He purred into my ear, making me shiver.
"What?" I mumbled confused.
All of this was getting too much for me. I was feeling like my core temperature was suddenly rising by a few degress while my blood was rushing through my system, driven by my thundering heart and creating a swooshing sound in my ears that drowned out everything that was going on around me. I could feel the goosebumps spread everywhere he was touching me and I almost moaned out loud as he rested his forehead against mine.
"I didn't want you to do something you later regret." He murmured, caressing my jaw line.
I stared into his silver eyes which were meeting mine with a warm shine, trying to work through the goo in my brain to form a clear thought. All I could concentrate on right now was the feeling of his breath brushing over my face and his finger tips on my jaw. I couldn't even find a way to ask why he was doing this or what he tried to achieve. I wasn't going to go any further than this, that I knew for sure.
