• December, 1925 •Genevieve woke the next morning with a feeling of enlightenment. This day would be her first day of lessons. Before slumber the previous night, Vivienne had already promised Genevieve the best of the best, swearing that her education in witchcraft and wizardry would be the best of the Wizard world. Therefore, Genevieve quickly brushed through her long hair, washed herself thoroughly before changing into a simple, blue dress. All throughout getting ready for the day, Genevieve was buzzing with an anticipation that made her hum in ecstasy. The young witch felt so caged before; now She was a bird set free.
After bringing herself together, her hair untamed as it cascaded down her back, Genevieve made her way downstairs to meet Vivienne. Once she entered the dining room, she witnessed the woman reading a news paper as she was buttering a golden piece of toast. What had Genevieve stop in her tracks was that the Newspaper was hovering in her eye-line, right before her as she prepared her breakfast.
"Oh-" Vivienne noticed, her voice void of shock, "- sorry to not wake you, I thought you could use a little lie in before we leave".
"Leave?" Genevieve questioned, with an eyebrow raised.
"Well you don't think I have all the supplies to teach you here? No! We're going to head to Diagon Alley, get you a wand and some books; a pet if you're good" Vivienne elaborated before she magically folded the newspaper and placed it on the table. From the door, Genevieve watched in wide eyes as the pictures moved and flashed upon the thin, grey paper.
"I'm sorry-" Genevieve apologised out of her wonder, "- What's Diagon Alley?".
"Well, it's only where every Wizard goes to collect supplies to fuel their magic. And it's also where every Wizard in Britain will get their wand".
At the thought of a wand Genevieve internally squealed.
"Yes, I know. Exciting!" Vivienne said sarcastically. For a moment, Genevieve was confused, how did she hear her thoughts... That's impossible.
"Actually, it's not. It's called Legilimency and if you don't want me searching every nook and cranny of your mind, you will have to learn Occlumency yourself. I certainly won't be teaching you".
"Why not?".
"Well, I'll have to keep you in check, make sure you're not getting yourself in trouble", at these words Genevieve deflated. She didn't know Vivienne would be Victor 2.0.
"Let's not be dallying then!-" Vivienne suddenly cheered as she jumped from the table, "- get your coat and what-not and we'll be flooing to Diagon Alley".
"I'm sorry... Flooing?".
Vivienne deeply sighed.
"This is why Victor was never capable" she then mumbled before leaving Genevieve to work everything out herself as she wrapped up warm for the journey.
When Genevieve was ready and waiting by the front door for Vivienne, she wondered what this Diagon Alley would be like or what kind of wand she would get. She thought it may be like her Mother's: simple and engraved with pretty patterns. But she was dragged from these thoughts as Vivienne rushed straight past her. And yet again, Genevieve was left in confusion. She kept forgetting this wasn't the same as her old world.
