Credence and Genevieve were curled together under the malting circus tent, their bodies the only warmth given. The blanket from Skender (the ringmaster) wasn't enough to provide heat. And in that moment, If she could, Genevieve wouldn't've let them be there, if she could, Genevieve would've used her magic to create some pleasurable warmth as spring was slowly approaching. But her wand was snatched from her hands the moment they entered the tents.
While they slept -Credence somewhat calmly- Genevieve dreamed of their imprisonment. All she could recall was trusting the somewhat kind ringmaster, then the snatching of her wand as Skender yelled stupefy in both Genevieve's and Credence's direction.
What terrified her most was how they woke them.
A blistering cold splash of water was thrown over the two before they were forced to separate. Genevieve didn't know those wizards then, they could've been anything, they could've been anyone as the girl fought tooth and nail until she was dragged violently to another part of the circus. When Credence disappeared from the sights of the young witch, Genevieve couldn't help but stretch her neck in hopes to find or see him through the tarps. However, she sadly couldn't use magic while wand-less.
Pulling her harshly (in the meantime) was an older witch, plump and disgusting as a sickly-sweet aroma of cotton candy emitted off her rolls of skin. She was nothing to fear until the woman -who she later came to know as Catriona- deformed her face into that of a hideous beast. She was a metamorphagus and a good one at that as Catriona suddenly shrivelled her body into a thin stick devoid of fat with curls of blonde hair and bright, purple eyes. Catriona did this to outshine the other women she would eventually meet in the tent before them.
Inside, many witches laughed and giggled as their wands fluttered across the air, creating all sorts of happenings. Some women were even dangling from the ceilings in bubbles and swings as if birds. Surrounding them was the richness of the wizard world yet Genevieve only felt sick as her arm was yanked further into the chaos.
As if she was a disease, witches and oddities moved aside at the sight of Genevieve. Never had she been treated in such a way, yet she was and Genevieve had no power without her wand. For once, she couldn't even protect herself.
After pulling Genevieve through the crowd, Catriona quickly wished a cage door open and threw the girl inside. Considering Genevieve's minimal size she was as light as a ragdoll once Catriona had Genevieve suspended in the air by the scruff of her neck. Never had she carried something so light she thought while locking cage once again; leaving Genevieve to greet the maledictus: Nagini.
Meanwhile, Credence was poked and prodded until his Obscurus came roaring from his body, bursting from his back in tendrils of darkness. Genevieve could hear it all, translate the pain in his voice before it suddenly vanished and transformed into a scream too human to lack a soul. Genevieve truly ached at the sound before the maledictus finally approached the young girl. At first, Nagini was afraid to confront the witch, after all, she had never met a kind wizard. But in time, Genevieve felt comfortable enough to begin speaking. It was a strange relationship between the maledictus and the witch, they didn't speak of their pain nor their suffering, only of what they dreamed. Through those words, a friendship stronger than any secrets was built. The dreams their foundations.
And each dream Genevieve spoke of never forgot to include Credence.
