Genevieve stood happily beside Credence once they apparated to Nurmengard. They were buzzing with a joy which was hard to dispel;
it seemed to course through their veins and force smiles upon their faces. Well, only on the surface. Underneath Credence's façade he was agitated, he wanted so badly to know his identity while Genevieve worried over him. Despite them both being free, some things still played on their minds.
Currently, they were standing in the drawing room, their eyes trained on the scenery outside as they held themselves together. A bond, it was, like Grindlewald had seen before. Pure yet discriminated. And he knew from Queenie that the boy remained uncertain. The only thing keeping him on the fence was the dark witch beside him. She lured him like a temptress into those flames and Credence only desired her heat which could extinguish any he could conjure. She was the flames he walked through.
Grindlewald approached with a confidence masking his slight nerves. He needed this to work. He needed to boy on his side for the greater good of his cause.
"I have a gift for you my boy" Grindlewald announced, his voice great as he revealed a long, dark wand; handsome in its minimalist design.
Credence couldn't believe his eyes when he saw the magical object. Finally, he had his own wand, something to channel his power through. He was going to be just like Genevieve, a Wizard.
"You have suffered the most heinous of betrayals-" Grindlewald began with a sly, slick tone, "- most purposefully bestowed upon you by your own blood. Your own flesh and blood. And just as he had celebrated your torment, your brother seeks to destroy you".
Credence's chest erupted with dark thoughts and a thrumming heart. The only family he had left desired him six-feet under. He inhaled sharply at the confession before his little chick -the one he had been taken care of- stepped leisurely into Grindlewald's palm.
At first, the witch wrapped in Credence's side thought he would crush it dead. Instead, however, once he threw the chick to the air it burst into the brightest light.
"There is a legend in your family that a phoenix will come to any member in dire need" Grindelwald stated as the flame engulfed the bird which hovered over the three. It seemed to stretch its wings to taste the freedom and in that action he doubled in size.
It is reborn, it is majestic Genevieve thought in awe as she clutched Credence's clothes tighter into her fist.
"It is your birthright, my boy. As is the name I now restore to you-" Credence bit his lip in untameable anticipation, "- Aurelius. Aurelius Dumbledore".
Grindelwald left after his whispered confession. Leaving the lovers to embrace in the joy. Instantly, at Credence, no, Aurelius' rebirth, Genevieve wrapped her arms around him. Her whole body was soaked in ecstasy at the news. Aurelius was a Dumbledore, Aurelius had a family, Aurelius... Was a Wizard. Not a filthy Muggle like he was once before.
After she had buried her nose into his neck, placing kisses and pecks there in the process, Aurelius turned to the window of the drawing room where mountains decorated the snowy terrain and suddenly channelled his Obscurus through the wand. In an burst of power, the spell-less, silent casting shattered the window before them. Surrounding, glitters of glass drifted through the unnerving, cold wind as the spell broke apart the beautiful mountain adjacent to the Wizard couple.
His first spell was a success.
"I guess it won't be me teaching you" Genevieve giggled as she snaked her arms around his torso from behind. He could at last feel her magic intermingling with his own and sparking a euphoria she felt only one-sidedly before. It felt magical. They always did together, ever since the beginning.
"I don't think so-" he chuckled uncharacteristically, shocking Genevieve,
"- there is still much to learn from you".
"I'll teach you potions if you teach me silent casting?",
"Deal" he smiled as he placed his hand over hers, his wand sitting against her knuckles and his palm. It created a new warmth, a dark heat Genevieve basked in.
"Magic can always come later" she then added suddenly.
"I suppose" he agreed nonchalantly yet his voice still quiet as he angled his head to capture her silver orbs.
It was like he was fire, like the flame that killed her mother, the flame that branded her arm, the flame they walked through together. Fire made and destroyed them.
"Magic can always wait when I'm with you, Aurelius" Genevieve said, her voice low as she pronounced every syllable of his new name. It sent shivers to dance down his spine. Especially when he caught this look in her eyes, like she was a mischievous fairy recently freed and ready to explore. And with that, Genevieve bit her lip against a promiscuous smirk as she drew him into a guest bedroom nearby.
Freedom just couldn't be any better Aurelius grinned silently before he immediately chased after the girl.
Indeed, Freedom couldn't taste any sweeter.
After all, they got what they wanted. And that's all selfish people need.
