Your POV

"Hey darling." Jack says walking into my room.
I put down the book I was reading and smile at him.

"Hello." I say.

"Love, theres something I have to tell you." He says holding my small hands in his large ones.

"Go on..." I say frowning a little.

He sighs.

"I'm going on that trip with my dad." He says

"That's not bad?" I say, it's comes out as a question though.

"Darling... I'm gonna be gone for 3 years." He says

My eyes widen and I have to process his words in my head.

"Love?" Jack says looking at me worriedly.

"T-three years?" I ask

"I'm sorry love. But I want to do this." Jack says.

I take my hands out of his hands and sadness flashes in his eyes. But it changes quickly to relief when I cup his face in my hands.

"Honey,this had been your dream for a while. And don't let me be the one who keeps you away from that." I say

His eyes start tearing up.

He cups my face in his hands and we stare into each other's eyes.

"How did I get so lucky?" He asks

I smile and laugh a little before leaning in.

He leans in as well and we share a passionate kiss.

After pulling away I say,

"I love you Jack."

"I love you too Y/n." He says

London, December 3, 1924.

I stood there amongst all the press listening as Jack and his father would talk about their journey taking place in a few days.

I smile at them.

Jack  grew a mustache and it was kinda cute.

Jack looks away from all the press and locks eyes with me and smiles.

I smile wider and wave at him.

He waves at me.

"We will be on the field for 3 years, standing on our own 2 feet.Surviving by our wits, tribesmen shall take our dispatches  delivers for publication as often as possible." Col. Percy  says

The press snaps pictures and start asking questions.

I walk out of the room and get outside for some fresh air.

This has been going on for an hour and I needed to breathe.

I thought about not having Jack by my side for three years.

Would he change? Would I change?

Jack was my rock. He meant everything to me.

And he'll be gone for 3 years...

I sigh staring off into the distance.

A pair of arms wrap around my waist from behind and I turn around quickly.

But it was Jack.

"Oh,hi." I say chuckling a little and wrapping my arms around his neck.

"Hello darling." He says resting his forehead against mine.

"What about the press Honey?" I ask

"They can wait. You're my number 1 priority." He says

"I'm not gonna be when you're out there." I say closing my eyes.

"Darling, Y/n look at me." He says

I open my eyes and look into his.

"You will always be my number one priority. No matter what. Remember that ok?" He asks

"Ok. I love you Jack." I say

"I love you too Y/n." He says and kisses me.

I kiss him back and smile a little.

After pulling away we walk back to the building hand in hand.

Time for them to leave.

As Jack says his goodbyes he comes to me last.

"I'm gonna miss you so much." He says

"Same here love." I say

"I love you so much and I will think of you everyday." He says

"I love you too. So so much, just come back to me alright?" I ask

"Of course." He says

I kiss him and it lasts a little longer before his dad pulls him away.

They get in the car and they drive away.

"I love you!" He yells

"I love you too!" I yell

Come back to me...

After years, they finally came back.

I ran out the door and hugged him close to me.

" I told you I'd come back." He says

"I missed you so so much." I whisper while crying into his neck.

"I missed you so much." He says

I kiss him passionately, after years it feels so nice.

We pull away.

"I love you" He says

"I love you too." I say
