The New year

The first day of the new year , there was not a cloud in sight , the sun was visible to everyone in the neighbourhood . 12 pm , Alex had just woken up , his rusty eyes couldn't see anything , he was completely blind without his glasses . Putting his glasses on his head , opening his bedroom door , there lies Liam on the floor . Alex noticed even though he was still half asleep .

"Morning Alex ." Liam said from below , Alex starred at him like he was an idiot .

"Morning ." Alex said , lifting his head , he smelt something delicious , paying closer attention , it was pancakes ! Was he in heaven ? "Stella you didn't have to cook breakfast ." He stepped over Liam like he wasn't even there , best way to a mans heart is through his stomach right ?

"Well , I wanted to say thank you ." Stella said placing plates of pancakes on the table . "Eat up ." She handed a plate to Alex and they all munched away . "I was thinking maybe we can go visit Sasha ." She suggested then suddenly Liam began choking on his food , hitting his chest hard then downing a glass of water . "You alright Liam ?"

"Yeah I'm fine ." He continued to eat .

"Yeah , we haven't seen her in a while ." Alex smiled with thoughts of Sasha being happy again . A persons personality never changes though , only their habits and actions so even if she's still sad and hurt and emotional , atleast she won't hurt herself . Right?

The morning consisted of Liam eating all the pancakes , Alex quietly doing the dishes and Stella vomiting up whatever she tried to put down . Eventually when Stella stopped vomiting , everyone was able to get ready and leave . "I'm so sorry about this morning ."

"It's okay , we will go get you some medicine on the way home ." Alex said leaning forward to look at her from the back seat .
Arriving at the rehab , the three of them walked up to the receptionist desk asking to see Sasha . Liam sat down in the lounge while the old dark skinned lady from behind the counter showed Alex and Stella to Sasha's room . Liam refused to move an inch from the waiting lounge .

"Alex !" Sasha shouted , standing up from her white bed . Stella looked around and it was so white , everything was white , so clean too and white .

"Sasha I'm so sorry we didn't come for Christmas ." Alex hugged her tightly , he smiled , guinuenly smiled .

"Where's Liam ?" She asked looking to see if he would walk in or not , she starred at the door then realized "he's not coming ." Sasha gave a smile filled of disappointment . The silence bothered her so she just had to tell Alex the good news , jumping up and down . " They say I could possibly be released in the next week ."

"That's great news !" Stella jumped from her chair , Alex starred at her blond hair that seemed to be getting longer and her smile made him feel all crazy , what was that feeling ? His ears were only listening to his inner voices before he was nudged on the arm by Sasha , both of the girls were glaring at him . "Alex , you alright ? You're starring at me ."

Alex stood Infront of Stella and looked her in the eyes , he began to blush "Do you ..... want to ..... go on a date with me when you finish work tomorrow ?" He rushed a bit of the last part , looking away from her eyes he realized she was also blushing .

"That was a surprise ." Stella giggled , Sasha was on the edge of her seat , she was hyped up . "Yes , I would love to ." All their hearts slowed down , the tension caused by Alexs surprise attack got them racing .

"I'm so happy for you two ." Sasha said out of extreme excitement .
Alex opened the door so they could take their leave , Liam and Alex were now standing face to face , why was Liam at the door ? "Liam ." Sasha said out of shock to see him .

Laughing it off , he knew he had been a jerk and a totally fuck up , letting himself in "Sorry about that , I wasn't feeling well ."

"You idiot ." Sasha startled everyone by crying , a lot . "I thought I must have done something wrong ."

"No , you have never wronged me ." Liam gave her reassurance . "I'm sorry I really am ." He hugged her .

A few minutes later they said their good byes , Sasha was going to get out of that holy place soon . Stella poked Liam's leg while they were all seated in the car ,  Liam paid a glance to her .
"Guess who asked me out ?" Stella said giving a big smirk then winking at Alex who seemed to be day dreaming while looking at the window . "Alex ."

"Alex , asked you out !?" Liam shouted , being gobsmacked he kept turing his head to Alex and back to the road . "When ?"

"When we were visiting Sasha ." Stella smiled from ear to ear showing some of her really white teeth. Alex turned his head , he had lost track in their conversation so he continued to just look around . "I start my part time job again tomorrow and to add I'm done my practical at your company . One more year of studying then I'll be able to become a comic book artist ."

Alex's head popped up suddenly "So we won't be seeing you all the time anymore ?"

"Nope , only when you get home ." Stella's face looked saddened but also happy since she would be more excited to see him and would be able to tell him all about her day .

"Did you tell Sasha about your mom ?" Liam asked and the silence grew darker .

"No , I'll tell her when she gets out ." Alex said , he didn't want her to go crazy while in there , he wanted her to be free again and so for that to happen she needed to be happy and secure .

The next day , as Alex woke up , Stella had already left for work . She always took the bus as she didn't have a car nor her driver's license . It was just him now , Liam was out of town for a few days visiting some family . It was a classy day and Alex decided to start it with a hot cup of coffee . He found that while drinking his coffee he remembered the date which he planned with Stella that night . He realized now how nervous he was was , he began to shake and then suddenly paced about the room . Where should he take her ? She likes games but then dinner also sounds nice . Alex then came to a conclusion that he should take her to a carnival . A carnival seemed perfect , they could get food and play games , it's also very cliche . Alex thought "It's just like the movies ." But would it turn out just like the movies ? The guy getting the girl ? A happy ending ?

Alex flopped on the couch and began to sink into his own thoughts "There are no happy endings are there ? Death is an unavoidable fate everyone has . So why do all the books and movies say happily ever after ? Death isn't happy right ?" Each sentence over wrote another in his mind .

Turning his head , Alex was alone again . This time was different though , he was so used to Stella and Liam being around that he felt even more alone now .
His cat Kira jumped through the window to comfort him .
The day went by , Alex did his usual routine which consisted of playing games , coffee and more games .

Stella got out a big bus , Alex starred at her as she approached the stairs . He took a seat and acted as though he wasn't doing anything creepy .
"Hey , Stella ." Alex said as Stella entered the place .

In an exhausted voice Stella replied "Hey Alex ." She put her belongs down and she seemed to be in a rush "I have to start getting ready for tonight ."

"What about our date ?" Alex asked in his neutral toned voice , sometimes no one could even tell or understand what he was feeling or thinking .

"Oh shit , I'm sorry I have work I have to do ." Stella's face grew of guilt "We can reschedule okay ?" She smiled gently .
How could Alex ever be angry at her ? She was so gentle and so kind , even so he felt a pain in his chest , he could only feel a little disappointed in that moment . Alex sat back down and took multiple sips of coffee .
He wanted to say something selfish , he wanted to act selfishly , that's what he normally would of done but this time it was different . How could he be selfish with her ? As much as he wanted to. He couldn't find his heart to do so .
