A few weeks after Asriel's return (and Noelle's invitation), Kris skipped out the front door of his house one dark evening. Someone suddenly shouted "Hey!" from behind him, and he stopped and turned. Asriel stood at the door.
"You're not gonna hug me goodbye?" Asriel called in a fake hurt voice.
Guiltily, Kris ran up to him and embraced him as tight as he could. Asriel laughed and said, "That's better."
Asriel then waved at Kris as he went on his way to the church.
When he approached it, he couldn't believe what he was seeing. The church was illuminated brilliantly in the night; it had been crowned in bright Christmas lights from top to bottom, and a holly wreath was hung on each of the large doors. Noelle is really extra, but I like it, Kris thought to himself.
He pushed the great doors open, and the sound of people chatting flooded his ears. At the very end of the auditorium, a long table had been placed, which was where Kris's classmates were sitting. When he walked in and his footsteps echoed, everyone turned and grew silent.
"Oh hi, Kris! I was worried you couldn't make it!" Noelle ran up to him and gave him a quick hug as a greeting. Kris stiffened. The chatting continued.
"Have a seat, Kris," Noelle said happily as she walked off.
Kris chose one of the three empty chairs at the large table and sat in it. He looked around to see more festive decorations on the walls. At the corner of the room was a Christmas tree decorated with white flowers, glistening ornaments, and piles of presents at its feet. For a moment, Kris watched the star at the very top as it illuminated blue light, which slowly faded to green, then back to blue.
Noelle walked to the middle of the table and cleared her throat. A hush fell in the room.
"Welcome, everyone, to Hometown's Christmas party!" she announced.
She's REALLY extra, Kris thought again.
"I know that we don't need a formal introduction, but I thought it would be nice," she smiled. "I just wanted to say, enjoy yourselves, and bon appetit!"
Just then, a tall skeleton with a red scarf, gloves, and cooking apron strode into the room with several plates of food in his hands.
"GREETINGS, LITTLE ONES! BEHOLD, THE GREAT PAPYRUS'S SPECIAL CHRISTMAS SPAGHETTI!" he declared loudly.
He placed the plates (which all consisted of spaghetti) onto the table, giving each student one.
"Great! I'm starving!" Monster Kid beamed as he dug his face into his plate. When he lifted his head up, however, disgust was written all over it. He gagged, but, seeing Papyrus smiling down at him, he gulped it down and forced a smile back. When Papyrus walked off, Monster Kid coughed and gulped down a whole glass of water. Throughout all of this, Snowy, a snowflake-like bird, was laughing hysterically.
"Yo, that tasted... EUGH!" Monster Kid complained.
Kris looked at his spaghetti in admiration. Strangely, he saw Papyrus as his best friend, despite not knowing who he was at all; his brother Sans had told Kris about Papyrus before, but he didn't care as much... until he saw the guy in person. He felt like he had seen the tall skeleton before...
Kris took a large bite out of his spaghetti, and the moment his tongue touched the sauce, he knew he made a mistake. He spit it out really quick and wiped his mouth with a napkin.
"HELLO, LITTLE HUMAN! SANS HAS MENTIONED YOU QUITE A LOT!" Papyrus cackled. "WHAT DO YOU THINK ABOUT YOUR WELL-CRAFTED MEAL?"
Kris quickly put his napkin down and gave Papyrus a shaky thumbs up.
"REALLY?! WOWIE! THANK YOU!" Papyrus cried happily as he put his gloved hands on his cheekbones in a flattered way.
"tem luuUuuUvs spaghett, pepyrus!!1!" Temmie, a white dog-and-cat-like creature, squealed through a mouthful of spaghetti.
"Yuck, I despise his poor excuse of pasta!" Berdly squawked, not bothering to lower his voice.
"WOWIE... SO MUCH PEOPLE LOVE MY SPAGHETTI ALREADY, AND I JUST MOVED IN JUST A MONTH AGO! THANK YOU, THANK YOU EVERYONE!" Papyrus sang. (He must've not heard Berdly's rude remark.)
Catti didn't even touch her food; she continued to tap away on her tiny device.
"Hey, if you love the spaghetti, so much, can you eat mine?" Jockington, a chill snake, grinned.
"uwaaaH, yesh!!1!! u showz muc kindnes...!" Temmie squeaked gratefully as she took his plate by her tail and nibbled on the pasta.
As soon as Papyrus left the room, everyone had asked Temmie to finish their plate for them, and by the time she finished, her stomach was the size of a big beach ball.
"tem so fullz... tem so... satisfies!!1!!!"
"Well, now that the food's done..." Noelle sweatdropped, "... why don't we open presents?"
She was met with noises of agreement from her peers. All eyes turned eagerly to the Christmas tree, but then everyone gasped. The presents had disappeared from under the tree.
Just then, the two front doors slammed open; the noise echoed around three times. A silhouette of a giant dinosaur-like monster was at the door.
"S-Susie?!" Noelle stuttered.
"... Am I late?"
