The train's doors opened and Scarlet could feel the cold breeze from outside. She instinctively took Demetria's hand in her left hand, while in the right hand she was holding Draco's. She loved that none of her friends didn't take their hands away from hers. Needless to say, she wasn't scared or frightened, she just needed to feel her closest friends near her. And she did. She felt safe, warm, loved. She was lost in these thougths when she heard a voice yelling:
'Firs' years! Firs' years over here!' Scarlet could see a half giant man, with long and tangled hair and beard who came closer to them, especially to Potter and Weasley.
She wasn't paying attention to what the giant man was saying. She was thinking about the Sorting Ceremony.  Her family and friends assured her that she would make a perfect Slytherin, although she knew she was intelligent like Ravenclaws, caring like Hufflepuffs and even brave like true Gryffindors. But no. Her dominating traits were the ones that only Slytherins had, so she calmed down.
She stopped thinking about such unimportant stuff and felt her legs walking slowly, while her hands were softly pulled by the twins.
'Scarlet, what are you thinking about?' Demetria asked her best friend.
'Nothing too important for you to worry, Demi.' Scarlet replied.
'Don't lie, please.' Demetria added.
'I was thinking about the sorting ceremony.' she finally said the truth.
'Why is that so important for you to get on your mind?' Demetria asked Sacrlet again.
'I was thinking... what if I get sorted into another house rather than Slytherin?'
'How could you possibly think about such nonsense, darling?!' Demi said on a surprised tone. 'I mean, yes. You are smart and caring, but we all know that you truly belong in Slytherin. But wherever the Hat puts you, we will follow you. Now get rid of any other thoughts and mind your step, because we're about to get in the boats.' Demetria finished.
'Thanks, Demi. But you know that you both are going to be sorted before me?'
'Don't worry. We'll find a way.' Demetria winked.
'Thanks Demi. Now all my insecurities have faded away.' Scarlet thanked her best friend.
And what 'Demi' said was true. They were about to get in the boats only first years took. They were offered a lovely, silent ride on the Hogwarts' lake.
'Mind yer' step!' the half giant was shouting so that every student could hear him. 'Only four in each boat!' he added.
Scarlet, Draco and Demetria got the closest boat to them and waited for the fourth person to get in the boat with them. They didn't wait long because an adorable girl politely asked if she could hop in too. Scarlet nodded and waited for the girl to get in the small wooden boat. She had the most precious features Scarlet had ever seen. She had a small, round face, porcelain skin, big, round, shimmering hazel eyes, a small pouty mouth and rosy puffy cheeks. Scarlet examined her features discreetly, feeling a warm and calming breeze, as the boats started floating over the cold and dark lake. She had read numerous books about the lake and the secrets it hides and even her father told her some interesting facts about that exact same lake. Everything was quiet. She enjoyed silence, but something made her feel uncomfortable. She realized that some eyes were curiously starling at her. She looked around to see who was looking so intense at her and her eyes met Potter's. 'Of course it was him' she thought and rolled her eyes. But she soon realized that Potter's emerald green eyes were not the only ones looking at her. She thought it would be Potter's friend, Weasley, but she was wrong. The other pair of eyes analyzing her belonged to a boy, not far from her boat. She didn't like his appearence, so she didn't bother to study his features too much.
Scarlet spent the rest of the ride enjoying the view, talking to the twins and later introducing herself to the adorable girl.
'Oh, where are my manners?' She started. 'Please excuse me, I have been distracted. I am Scarlet and these are my friends, Draco and Demetria Malfoy.' Scarlet added.
'It's alright, don't worry. My name is Lucy Conwell.' the girl introduced herself.
'It is a true pleasure to meet you, Lucy.' Demetria said. Draco didn't say anything, but smiled at Lucy in a friendly manner.
Right after the conversation ended, the boats stopped. They finally arrived at the most prestigious school of witchcraft and wizardry. The children stepped out of the boats and examined the castle shocked. They were all amazed by the castle's height, but Scarlet wasn't truly satisfied with what she had before her eyes. If she was honest, she expected it to be a lot bigger, but she couldn't change the castle, so she went in line with the other students. She took a place in front of Draco and behind Demetria.
The line started moving towards the castle's huge doors. The doors seemed to magically open, but that idea vanished when they saw the figure of a slightly old lady. 'McGonagall.' Draco whispered to Scarlet.
'Professor McGonagall' Scarlet corrected him.
Draco didn't say anything, aware of the mistake he did, offending Scarlet's manners. He started progressing in small steps to Professor McGonagall.
Everybody entered the doors and found themselves in a large hallway, illuminated by torches placed on walls, at equal distances from each other. To decorate the black stone walls, along with the torches, there were moving paintings with different backgrounds. None of the children had enough time to analyze everything surrounding them because Professor McGonagall rushed them to another pair of gigantic doors. They opened themselves and gave the children the chance to look at the colossal hall full of enthusiastic children of different ages. In the hall, there four enormous tables, representing the four houses at Hogwarts. Everybody was looking at the first year students as they were moving forward to the single table where there were adults were sitted, not students. Scarlet decided not to look at anybody, but she still glanced at the stool that was placed right in front of the teachers' table. McGonagall rushed to the table to grab a pergament roll and an old hat. She waited a few moments and the hat finally spoke:
'Oh, you night not think I'm not pretty,
But don't judge me on what you see
I'll eat myself if you can find
A smarter hat than me.
You can keep your bowlers black
Your top hats sleek and y'all.
For I'm the Hogwarts Sorting Hat
And I can cap them all.
There is nothing hidden in your head,
The Sorting Hat can't see
So try me on and I will tell you
Where you ought to be.
You might belong in Gryffindor,
Where dwell for the brave at heart
Their daring, nerve and chivarly
Set Gryffindor apart.
You might belong in Hufflepuff
Where they are just and loyal
Those patient Hufflepuffs are true
And unafraid to toil.
Or yet in wise Ravenclaw
If you've a ready mind
Where these of wut and learning
Will always find their kind.
Or perhaps in Slytherin
You'll make your real friends
Those cunning folk use any means
To achieve their ends.
So put me on! Don't be afraid!
And don't get in a flap!
You're in safe hands, even if I have none.
For I'm a thinking Cap!' the old hat spoke, through a wrinkle that looked like a mouth. The whole hall burst in loud applause, while Scarlet mumbled 'Awful' to herself. Then, McGonagall rolled down the pergament and started saying the names of some kids, which sat on the stool and McGonagall placed the Hat on their heads. The process went down like this:
' Abbot, Hannah' McGonagall started.
