Footsteps were heard from the upstairs of Ryo's condo/loft of a home. Ryo was sitting down at his desk, the news projected on the glass window to his left, political updates on the one to his right and chat rooms loaded on his computer screen. Footsteps came overhead and then down the steps. Ryo didn't even bat an eyelash to look in that direction.
"Ryo? It's like 2 a.m.." You told him in a tired voice as you reached the bottom step.
Ryo waved his hand dismissively, "I'll rest later. There is work to be done." was all he said bluntly.
You sighed softly and went to stand behind him, watching as he clicked out of whatever website he was on, as he regularly did when you came into the room. All the projections were turned off as well.
"I don't care about work. You are coming to bed." There was no denying how much more demanding you'd become since the incident.
Ryo sighed, realizing he had no choice in the matter, "Perhaps a snack to take with us my love?" he said a bit sweetly.
You couldn't deny the thought of food at the moment. You grinned a bit wider and nodded your head in response to the offering of food.
"Wait upstairs. I'll bring you something." Ryo offered.
You didn't even respond as you turned, taking the steps two and three at a time as you hurried back up to your shared bedroom. Your boyfriend, Ryo, was always being so considerate. Even more so in the last few months. You got into the king-sized bed and laid down with a soft sigh as you laced your fingers behind your head, thinking about the incident, a slight frown settling on your features. Before you could dwell on it for too long, the smell of meat drifted into the room and you sat up excitedly.
"I know it's not much, but it's what we've got left. I'll get some more tomorrow." Ryo reasoned as he climbed into the bed, placing the platter of heated up meat and vegetables in front of his lovely (boy/girl)friend.
You wasted no time in attacking the food as Ryo gently ran his hand through your (h/l) (h/c) hair. He found himself smiling a genuine smile, something he hardly did unless he was around you. Something nobody knew about Ryo was how kind and considerate he could be towards people. At least towards you. You finished the plate with a content sigh and placed the platter on the bedside table. You looked at Ryo with this glint in your eye that he knew all too well as you climbed on top of him, straddling his waist.
"What was it you were saying earlier about going to bed? Something about it being 2 a.m.?" Ryo teased.
You rolled your eyes and leaned forward, catching his lips in a gentle kiss, but before you could get any further, there was knocking and yelling from the front door.
"Ryo! Ryo! I know you're in there Ryo! Come on I need some help!!!" boasted an all too familiar voice from the front door.
Ryo sat up with an unamused expression, and you moved from his lap, accompanying him downstairs to the front door. Ryo cracked the door, and there stood Akira, looking like he was about to explode or something along those lines.
"I need another one." was all Akira said, and Ryo stepped to the side to let him in.
"Tch. Akira. Great timing as always." you said with a bitter tone in your words.
Akira glared at you, "(Y/n). Sorry." Although you knew that wasn't sincere.
Ryo dug in his desk drawer and pulled out a single piece of paper with words on it that you couldn't make out from a distance at the time. Akira snatched the paper and made his way to the door. However, you stood in his way. Akira raised a curious brow.
"(Y/n)..." Ryo said in a warning tone.
"The least you could do is thank Ryo for whatever he's doing for you," you told him a bit angrily.
Akira looked over his shoulder at Ryo for a split moment, "'Whatever he's doing for me'? Ha. Either Ryo doesn't care about you, or he loves you." Akira said with a chuckle as he pushed past you and out the door.
Akira was hardly this rude to anyone, so you just chalked it up to the demon inside of him getting irritated. You turned to look at your lover and a mix of emotions spread across your face as you hid your face and raced back upstairs.
"(Y/n)!" Ryo called after you only to be followed by the slamming of the bedroom door.
Ryo rolled his eyes and walked to the room, opening it, knowing you hadn't locked it. His bothered expression softened as he saw you sitting on the edge of the patio railing outside the window. He walked out the sliding door and leaned against the rail.
"(Y/n) I-" Ryo started to speak, but you cut him off.
"You're always doing favors for Akira. Always being secretive around me. I never know what you're working on or what kind of danger is out there. Now I can go out there and find out for myself. You know this. But I thought that after... what happened you'd trust me a little more. Open up or something." you explained to him calmly.
Ryo only nodded his head slightly in response as he looked out over the city, "I do trust you (Y/n). That's why I haven't opened up. Because I know you wouldn't stop until all the danger was gone." He turned to look at you, and you met his gaze. "I trusted you enough to merge you with Emaila didn't I?"
When Ryo spoke the name of the demon inside of you, your spine stiffened a bit, and a cold shiver ran over your body, "I know Akira and I are the same. We both possess demon powers with human hearts. But what do you give him? Why does he always come to you? I'm your lover. Not him. So why do I feel as if you give him more than me?"
Ryo paused for a moment and captured your lips in a gentle kiss just as you'd done to him earlier. You relaxed at the feeling until he pulled away. "It's because I am your lover. Akira doesn't have someone to do the things that I do with you. And because you have me, then there is no need for those favors."
You took a moment to try and understand what he meant until the puzzle fit itself together. Once you had merged with Emaila, there were urges and needs that you couldn't control but Ryo... he helped you satisfy them all and somehow you managed not to hurt him in the process. Ryo took a step back and offered his hand out to you with a gentle smile. You reached out and took his hand, following him to the bed as you bit your lip gently. He crawled in, and you followed suit and climbed in, snuggling under his warmth and nuzzling his neck as he ran his hand through your hair, rubbing your back gently.
"The things I do, the secrets I keep, are to keep you close to me. You understand that don't you?" Ryo asked his gaze at the ceiling.
"Yes, but-" you started to argue, but Ryo interrupted.
"Then why do you question it? Do you now want to be with me for as long as possible? I may have brought you into my world, but by keeping everything about this world from you, we can be with each other forever." Ryo looked down at you, meeting your gaze as he spoke, "Doesn't that sound wonderful (Y/n)?"
You looked up at him, at a loss for words and just nodded your head, gripping him a bit tighter, "It sounds perfect Ryo."
Ryo smiled and kissed your forehead. This was a sweet side that he only ever showed you. And he never failed to show you how much you mean to him. This guy was everything you wanted and more. So who were you to question it? He turned you into a devilman, but he protected you. He sheltered you from horrors and satisfied you in every way possible.
You climbed on top of him once more, "Now let's get back to business~" you said in a low voice as you kissed him a bit more passionately than you had previously.
The two of you went back to your previous endeavors well into the night~
