After everyone had congraulated both me and Jacob, I excused myself to the backyard where Ace was.

He was standing in the grass, just looking up at the sky full of stars. He turned around when I closed the door behind me.

"Hey."

"Hey." I wrapped my arms around me and shivered at the night's cold air.

"Congrats on your engagement."

"Thank you." I got closer to him.

We stopped talking and were just staring at the sky together before he cleared his throat.

"So...I thought you didn't know if you were going to accept if he proposed to you?" He brought his gaze on me.

"I...Yeah..I..know, it's just that I thought about it for the past two days and I felt different, I felt secure I guess... and I felt different when he asked me tonight.."

"Hmm." He brought his gaze back to the sky.

"What's wrong, I looked you in the eyes when he was proposing and you looked like you were angry?"

"I'm not."

"Can you look me in the eyes and tell me that?"

He brought his eyes back to me and I saw clear as daylight, anger and disappointment.

"I...I don't even know why I'm so upset...I'm with Alyssa and you're with Jacob, even getting married to him."

"Ace...I.."

Before I could finish my thought the door slide open and we both turned to see who it was.

"Hey babe are you ready to go?" Jacob looked at me, then at Ace.

"Oh, hey Ace."

Ace nodded his head and went back to staring at the sky. I looked at him and turned back to Jacob,

"Yeah, I'm ready to go. See you later Ace..." I walked towards Jacob.

"Yeah, see you around." He looked at me before turning back to the sky.

I said my thanks to everyone for coming to my birthday and me and Jacob left my sister's house.

While he was driving I kept looking at my ring and thinking how such a little ring can bring such drama.

The next few months were crazy!! Wedding planning and work and moving to my new house was just something that was absolutely crazy. I barely had time for myself, let alone any down time. I was always busy whether planning my wedding or working.

We had decided to have a fall wedding in September, so at least we had a set plan for when the wedding was happening. We had a venue, the dress picked out which was going to be in a strapless mermaid style dress. We had our bridesmaids and groomsmen and everything set out. The only thing left to deal with was the wedding rehearsal and the dinner.

I had moved to my new house and it was perfect. No complaints at all, work was fine as well. I had been left the task of asking Ace if he was coming to the dinner and rehearsal, since he was one of the groomsmen.

"Ok, babe I'm heading over to Ace's place. I'll be back soon." I picked up my keys from the key holder.

"Ok, no problem, I'll see you when I get back from work." He walked from the kitchen and came to kiss me. I waved goodbye and left the house.

I drove over to Ace's apartment and noticed the door was unlocked.

I approached the door slowly and swung it open quietly. I guess Ace had left the door opened since he knew I was coming over.
