Johnny's POV
"Dally!? But what are you doing here? You're supposed to be in jail for another five or six months?!"
I exclaimed.
"Let's just say I got out on "good behavior."
He winked at me and I felt my cheeks get red.
"Do you wanna say somethin' to the gang or wait?"
I ask not knowing what to say.
"Tomorrow. I'm too tired today. Come on Johnnycakes you're heading to Buck's house with me today."
Dally said as he put his arm around my shoulder.
'Dally, boy was he something else. I couldn't really describe the feeling that I got when I'm around him but in a way, I guess he's kinda like the friend who just showed up one day and everyone just accepted them. Yeah, he's hacked off most of the time, drinks and smokes way too much and the cops basically know him down at the station but for some reason, he's the one that I feel the safest with. I mean I love the rest of the gang but Dally makes me happy in a way that the rest of the gang can't do. Maybe this is what Two-Bit feels like when he thinks about Darry? Who knows, I know I don't.'
At Bucks
We got to Buck's house and saw that there was a party going on and immediately Dally began chugging beers as if it were his last day on earth.
I was just in the corner with a cancer stick.
I watched as Dally grabbed another beer and a broad began talking to him.
She had a red bandana wrapped around her head like a bow with a black colored ponytail and a jean jacket with some ripped jeans.
I rolled my eyes.
'Of course, Dally would like someone like her.'
I took another hit of my cancer stick before stomping on it.
I started heading out of the house but first I turned once more to look at Dally.
'I'm surprised dally and her didn't hit it off. She's definitely his type.'
I turned around and left.
I headed for the lot since it wasn't really raining or nothin'.
On the way to the lot
I had my hands in my jean jacket and was looking up at the stars.
Suddenly I feel a pair of arms wrap around me.
I panic and immediately begin kicking.
I hear a loud ow before I get put down.
"Damn Johnnycakes you sure can kick."
Dally chuckled as he rubbed his knee.
I chuckled and let out a sigh of relief for it was only Dally.
"I thought you were at the party?"
"That girl was chatting me up but she was just annoying and interested in doing sexual stuff. I'd rather hang out with you and catch up."
He gave me one of his rare genuine smiles and I couldn't help but smile back.
We began walking to the lot and neither of us really talked but it wasn't awkward or anything.
It was a very enjoyable moment.
Then Dally broke the silence,
"So how things been since I got locked up?"
"Oh Ponyboy and Curly got together and Darry ain't very happy about it. He thinks Curly is a bad influence. Steve and Sodapop well they're still being the way they used to. Two-Bit is crushing on Darry harder than ever. Wish they would just get together. That's really it."
Dally cocked an eyebrow and gave me this weird stare.
"Alright Johnnycakes what did your old man do to you now?"
I gulped.
'How did he know that my dad had beaten me again? Does he know me that well?'
I lifted up my shirt and showed him the bruises and cuts.
He let out a curse word under his breath and pulled my shirt down.
"Johnny, why didn't you tell me? Instead of going to that party we could've gone somewhere else or stayed at the Curtis house."
I shrugged my shoulders.
"Guess I didn't wanna ruin your night out since you've been stuck in the cooler for the past 6/7 months there."
I expected him to yell at me or leave but instead, THE Dallas Winston pulled me into a hug.
I froze not knowing what to do.
'How is it possible that Dallas Winston known for not caring about anybody or loving anyone is hugging me at this second. He's worried about me and actually cares if i'm safe or not. I wonder if he actually likes me or he just thinks of me as a close friend.'
He looks down at me and for once I see that those empty brown eyes aren't so empty anymore.
