Dylan watched his mother's car turn round the corner and disappear, his act of worry long since left when his mum entered the car.
He managed to create a cute, quiet boy image when his mum was present. She reassured him, "I'm sure you'll get friends and fit right in. Being a new boy can have it's rewards, darling." He would answer with a small nod and a "yes mum", or a "thanks". He could be an actor for the skills he had developed over the years.
This was the third school he had moved to. His mother being an archeologist caused them to move frequently. Dylan himself didn't have the best behavior record either in his 1st school, but any school would take him in because of his exceptional academic results.
Dylan turned around and searched for his phone. His headphones were in it's brand new case. New school, new headphones. A small catch phrase he had told his mum, it was only an excuse to get yet another set of headphones.
He opened the case and placed them over his ears, though no music was heard...yet, still waiting to find his phone. He pulled his phone out from his inside pocket and connected his headphones and phone and began the track. Dylan smiled as the music streamed through the fresh headphones into his ears. He began to walk towards the school entrance, walking to the fast beat in the leading pop song.
People would tease him in the past, telling him that he was into "chick songs". Dylan would simply ignore or insult them.
Dylan entered, more like strutted, into the school grounds. He did get a few looks his way but he was mostly ignored. Dylan took out a folded piece of paper from his pocket which held his locker number, timetable and form color (his form color was purple, the others were red, blue and yellow).
He carried on walking down the hallway until he found his locker number. Dylan unlocked it with his new key. He checked what lesson he had first and put the books in that he didn't need.
His phone had gone through 5 songs already, all pop songs...so far.
Dylan began to feel a tapping on his shoulder. He turned around. Green. All he saw was a pair of vibrant green. He stared in awe for a bit.
"Guau!", Dylan said in astonishment, his headphones still in his ears, not realizing the other person's discomfort.
"Umm, what?" The teenage boy asked with confusion. Dylan stepped out of his little trance and looked over the other guys physique.
This male had smooth black hair and a pale-ish face. His nose was slightly covered in freckles. He was slightly taller than Dylan, even though Dylan was already just above average. To sum him up, this guy was quite good-looking, not that Dylan cared. But his eyes, they were such a bright green, it seemed almost magical. Dylan could feel his eyes being sucked in. It had been hard to look away.
"Oh! Umm...wait a second!" He held up his hand, waiting for the last few seconds of one of his songs before removing his headphone. "Sorry, umm...my name is Dylan." He held his hand out indicating a handshake. The other teen shook it,
"Oh-kaay, the name's Leo. Nice headphones by the way." Dylan touched his headphones, mumbling a polite thanks. "Ok, so I've been assigned to show you around, since we're both in the same form colors." Leo tapped a blue badge on his jumper. "Oh, wait!" Leo searched through his pocket and found a smal bag of purple badges. "Here you go and welcome to Orchard High." Leo handed a purple badge to Dylan.
"I feel like a freshman!" Dylan joked.
"Well, I would. We don't usually get Juniors coming at this time."
They laughed for a while, until the bell rang.
"Oh crap, we better get started on your tour!" Leo grabbed Dylan's wrist and began to yank him away. Dylan shut his locker and took the key in a rush.
