"Here's 80 dollars for your birthday." Dylan's mum put the money on the little coffee table before rushing out of the house. "Love you." She sped off, leaving Dylan at the door.
"Well, this is gonna be the best birthday ever." Dylan cheered sarcastically before locking the door behind him.
Today was the day of the final dance routine before the big show, which was on his birthday.
Dylan strutted to his music as he wore his headphones. He was forced to take the train to his club meet because he lived 40 minutes away. He never got dropped off by his mom, she was "too busy". It's not like he cared though, he did his thing, she did hers.

"HEY DYLAN!" His club members cheered as he entered the massive dance hall.
"Hey guys!" Dylan is waved before putting down his duffle bag. "I've already finished the dance routine, but it's a little bit on the fast side at times, think you can keep up?" Dylan walked to the huddle of children. There were kids from the age of 12 to the age of 18 in the dance club, which meant Dylan wasn't the oldest, but he was more experienced than all of them. A certain someone didn't like this fact.
"Stop acting like you people actually like your dance routines." A tall boy pushed people out of the way and faced Dylan.
Dylan sighed and looked up, "Well that means you should stop acting like people actually like you, Kevin." He crossed his arms and smirked.
A few people sniggered at Dylan's comment.
"You've got to admit, you were walking into that one." Kevin scowled at the girl who had tailed behind him.
"Shut up, Linda." With that Kevin barged past Dylan and out the door, mumbling angrily.
"Sorry about my big brother, he can be so annoying." Linda came and linked arms with Dylan. "Sooo...about the dance routine-"
"You are still not the lead dancer, Linda." Dylan unhooked their arms and ran back to his duffel bag.
"Oh, come on. you know how much I've wanted this." Linda whined.
"You can't, you've only been here for 6 months. Your not allowed yet." Dylan went into his bag and found a A3 size pad, slightly folded to fit inside.
"Yeah, rule number 13: 'Any member who wishes to lead a routine must have a years experience'. But couldn't you make an exception since I'm pretty good for a newbie." Linda whined, following Dylan as he walked to the group.
"Ssh, everyone!" Dylan shouted over the group, ignoring Linda's last comment. Everyone began to quiet down. "Our group leader, Meg, texted me yesterday. She's still...ill, so she can't make. Meg told me to just take her place today. Are you alright with that?"
"Yeah!" Everyone shouted.
"OK, let's get started." Dylan opened his A3 pad and routed for his phone. "I've got the song for the routine on my phone now so..." He found his phone and played a hip-hop song. "It has a good beat to it, don't you think?" Dylan smiled and bopped his head to the beat.
A few people laughed as they watched Dylan close his eyes and begin to dance.
"Oh, yeah. I should be practicing with you." Dylan laughed with them until things went quiet. "So, let's start from the top..."

Dylan and the rest of the group were in sync by now. They only had half an hour left until the club ended.
"Oh wait, I almost forgot, um...do the girls completely know the female solos?" Dylan asked nervously.
A few girls looked at each other and giggled. There were a few whispers too.
