"Go away Denki!" Katsuki's voice echoed in his head as he trudge through the school halls. "Go work on your grades or something. No one needs an idiot." A sigh left Denki's lips as he hung his head. Maybe Katsuki was right. He was an idiot.

He was an idiot with an idiot quirk.

"Denki!" Eijiro called from several feet behind him as he ran to catch up. "What's up man?" he grinned, slapping a large hand on Denki's frail shoulder.

Denki simply ignored him and kept walking.

Eijiro frowned and matched his friend's pace. "Hey, what's wrong?" he asked. "I almost didn't recognize you."

Denki kept walking.

"Was it what Katsuki said?" Eijiro frowned. "He was just being a jerk he didn't mean it."

Denki hesitated for a short moment before continuing his slow pace.

"Hey don't take it personally," Eijiro continued, trying to cheer up his friend. "He was just in a bad mood. He was looking for you to apologize, actually."

Denki glanced up nervously, normally bright eyes darkened and wet from tears. "...really?" he quietly asked, voice cracking with stifled emotion.

Eijiro nodded enthusiastically, despite it being a lie, and continued to cheer up his friend. "We were all looking for you actually," he continued, "I guess we missed ya 'cause you looked so upset." He laughed and wrapped an arm around his shoulder. "But that's alright why don't we get to class before mister Aizawa notices we're gone." He slowly guided his friend to the classroom.

Suddenly, a huge mech crashed through the school walls and slammed it's fist into the ground, sending a ripple of energy that knocked anything in it's path to the ground.

Eijiro coughed as dust circled around him and his skin hardened. He looked around for Denki and his heart caught in his throat. "Denki!" he gasped as he rushed over to his friend's side.

Denki was covered in dust and blood after crashing into a pile of rubble. He struggled to prop himself up but fell back against the bricks with a gasp of pain.

"Stay down I got you," Eijiro ordered as he cradled his friend's broken body in his arms. He could hear screams and alarms all around him but that didn't matter. All that mattered was protecting his friend.

With a mechanical screech, the mech turned and stomped to where the two heroes were huddled. It glared down at them with cold mechanical eyes before raising it's fist to crush them both.

"M-move," Denki growled, "Move!" he shoved Eijiro out of the way just as electricity arced from his body and surrounded the oncoming mech. He screamed in pain as the mech shook and sparked, every circuit frying in an instant. "113...m-million...volts..." he managed to get out as the mech shook with energy.

"NO!" Eijiro screamed as he watched helplessly from the sidelines. 112 million volts was his limit. 113 million would kill him. "NO DENKI!"

The mech sparked and fell to its knees with a foreboding crash and started to fall forwards. Its shadow engulfed Denki as he lay limply on the ground, all his energy spent.

With a burst of energy, Eijiro leapt forward and grabbed his friend, pulling him away just as the mech fell to the rubble. "Denki?" he asked nervously, brushing a blond lock from his face. "Denki?!"

Denki lay limp in his friend's arms, stray sparks occasionally leaping across his pale skin stained with blood.

"Hang on okay?" Eijiro told him, struggling to stand on his broken ankle. "I'll get help and—" he paused as Denki weakly grabbed his arm. His normally bright yellow eyes were dull and lifeless.

"...to...late..." he whispered as a coughing fit wracked his thin form. "...'m s-sorry..." he coughed harder.

Eijiro bit back hot tears threatening to spill from his eyes and shook his head grasping his friend's hand with such force he was worried he would break it. "No," he denied, voice shaking, "no no you're not going to die I wont let you die! You're going to be just fine just hang in there."

Denki shook his head with what little energy he had and forced his eyes to remain open for a moment longer. "...was...was I...a h-hero...?" he asked, tears running down his face as he shuddered and coughed.

Eijiro choked back a sob and nodded, holding his dying friend's hand to his face as sirens sounded from a distance. "Y-yes," he whispered, tearing up, "yes you were a hero. You saved us all." He cried and clutched his friend in a weak hug. "You were a hero Denki," he whispered between stifled sobs, "you were a hero. I promise I...I will never forget you."

Denki nodded as he slumped forward on his friend's shoulder, dead.

"Eijiro!" Izuki called as he stumbled through the rubble, equally bruised and battered from the attack. "Are you okay?!" he skidded to a stop as he spotted Denki's battered corpse and he drew in a sharp breath. "Is he okay?! A medic is on his way what happened?!"

Eijiro turned away as more tears slipped down his cheeks. He sadly shook his head. "He's gone," he responded as his voice cracked from emotion. He hung his head and clutched Denki's body.

"...no," Izuki whispered in disbelief as he stared at the limp teenager. More of the class had started to gather. They hung back respectfully, giving Eijiro space as the mourned the death of their classmate.

Katsuki pushed past his mourning classmates and slid to a stop a few feet away from Eijiro and Denki. "What happened?!" he demanded, craning his neck to get a better look at Denki. "Is he hurt?"

Eijiro looked up at the explosive teen with tearful eyes and gently pulled Denki's limp form away from his chest. "I'm sorry," he whispered in a broken tone. "...he sacrificed himself," he glanced at the broken mech, "to save us all."

Katsuki clenched his fists. "No," he growled. "No he can't. He cant be dead."

Eijiro looked down and clutched Denki's body as quiet sobs wracked his form.

Katsuki clenched his jaw as fire started to form around his fists. "No!" he yelled, backing away from his fallen classmate as energy and emotion built up in him. "NO!" Fire erupted from his hands and the mech, the rubble, and anything too close to the fire, exploded.

Izuki flinched slightly at his violent reaction but retrieved a sheet from the medics. He draped it over Denki's body as Eijiro laid him down on the ground. "He was a true hero," Izuki addressed the rest of the mourning classmates as he bowed his head. "One that we all should strive to be. He sacrificed himself to save us." He looked at the others wiping tears from his eyes. "When we rebuild this school, we're devoting it to Denki Kaminari. Without his sacrifice, none of us would be here now." He drew in a shaky breath. "We will never forget him."
