Eijiro groaned as he forced his eyes to open, blinking away the thick darkness that surrounded him. Muffled voices met his ear.

"...he's an omega," he heard a deep voice observe. "What's his limit?"

"Thirty trillion volts," another replied as a hoarse scream met his ears.

Denki.

Eijiro's eyes shot open and his body instinctively hardened as he struggled to his feet. Thick chains pulled him back down as the same muscular villain towered over him. He laughed, his forked tongue sliding through his teeth with a hiss.

"What are you going to do kid?" the villain challenged with a smirk, standing mere inches from Eijiro's reach. "You gonna kill me?"

Eijiro glared back angrily. "Let him go," he growled with as much courage as he could muster. "Leave us alone."

The villain threw back his head and laughed. "Why should I?" he boomed, clamping an iron hand on Eijiro's jaw, forcing the teen to look him in his slit green eyes.

Eijiro glared back but held his tongue, trying to hide his fear.

The villain laughed once more and released his grip.

An alarm suddenly went off, blaring through the dark and causing him to jump. "What's that racket?" he yelled angrily at his partner who was standing by a computer. "What's going on?!"

His partner paled and gathered his equipment. "Heroes!" he exclaimed. "We have heroes on their way!"

The villain clenched his fists angrily and grabbed his bag. "We need to go!" he snapped as the walls and ceiling started to crumble. "Now!"

"What about them?!" his partner asked, jabbing a finger in Eijiro's direction and pointing to an unconscious Denki strapped to a table.

"Leave them!" the villain boomed. "They'll be dead before the heroes can get to them!"

The partner glared at the two teens before gathering his things and running after his partner in crime.

A large chunk of brick crashed to the ground mere inches away from Eijiro, causing him to jump and tug on the chains that held him in place. "Denki!" he screamed, struggling to see through the dust swirling around him. "DENKI!" his chains snapped, causing him to fall forward and hit his head on a fallen chunk of rubble. He coughed and struggled to his feet as the world spun and his head throbbed. "Denki!" he shouted, stumbling forward as rocks tumbled around him. "Denki where are you?!"

He had just found his friend.

He wasn't going to lose him.

Not like this.

Dust clouded his vision and caused him to cough as he stumbled through the collapsing room, searching for Denki. His hand brushed against a crumpled metal table and he drew in a sharp breath.

Denki lay strapped to the table and unconscious. Weak sparks jumped from his skin and caused the exposed wires to spark and twitch with energy. Blood trickled down his chin and from the thin cut running across his neck. His eyes were closed and his bruised lips were parted as his chest rose and fell in time with his weak heartbeat.

Eijiro gasped and quickly sharpened his hands to cut his friend free from the straps. "Denki?" he whispered, gently tapping the teen's cheek. "Denki wake up we need to get out of here!" he winced as another chunk of ceiling crashed inches away from where they crouched.

Denki didn't stir.

Biting his lip as the room started to crumple around them, Eijiro hardened his skin and crouched around his friend's limp body as rubble fell around them, blocking his vision and filling his lungs with dirt. Eijiro smiled weakly as his vision grew dark.

"It's my turn to be the hero," he whispered before slipping into unconsciousness.
