Sleep.

Just go to sleep.

Why are you staring at the ceiling?

There is nothing on the ceiling so go to sleep.

You're really going to regret staying up this late.

With a groan of defeat, Eijiro rolled over in his bed and glanced at the clock.

2:34 a.m.

Perfect.

Fists clenched in frustration, he sat up and swung his legs over the covers. His head spun and his vision blurred as he shakily stood to his feet and felt his way around the room. His fingers brushed the worn wood of his door frame and he stepped through what he assumed was a door...

...but was actually a wall and knocked him to the ground.

He stared at the blank ceiling as his head throbbed.

Great.

His own room wanted him dead.

After a moment of laying on the cold floor, Eijiro got to his feet with a groan and stumbled out of his room and down the hall, all while cursing each wall he passed for trying to murder him that night. He flicked on the kitchen light but hissed and quickly turned it off.

Light was bad.

Light was trying to kill him like his walls.

Finally, after fishing around in unpacked boxes, he managed to find a desktop lamp, plug it into an outlet after electrocuting himself twice, and crash in a chair as dim light filled the room. He leaned back, letting his neck arch over the back of the chair, and stared at the ceiling.

Again.

It was boring.

"What am I doing?" he asked himself, cringing at his hoarse voice. With a dejected sigh, he propped his feet up on the table and leaned back in his chair...

...only for the back legs to break and send him tumbling onto the tile floor.

"WHY ARE YOU TRYING TO KILL ME?!" he screamed as he leaped up from the ground and grabbed what was left of the old chair. "WHAT DID I EVER DO TO YOU?!" he was about to throw the broken chair legs out the window when a cat's yowl broke through the night. He frowned, putting his murderous intentions on pause, and stumbled to the front door. After a moment's hesitation, he opened the door with a crack and looked out into the night shivering as the cold air brushed against his bare chest and thin pajama pants.

Nothing.

He shrugged and was about to close the door when a striped orange blur rushed past him and slid to a stop inside.

The fat tabby cat that had just recently invaded his house turned to face him with an innocent meow before trotting off into the kitchen.

Eijiro stared at the adjacent door, still processing all that had taken place, when a crash sounded. He whirled around and ran into the kitchen just in time to see the fat cat drag an open can of tuna from the fridge and devour it before Eijiro's very eyes.

"Hey!" Eijiro shouted, snatching the tuna from the cat's grasp and shoving it back into the fridge. "That's not yours! I didn't even invite you inside!"

The cat stared at him with large unblinking eyes before getting to his feet and stretching. He meowed innocently and started pawing at Eijiro's cup of coffee.

The man's eyes widened. "No," he frowned, "no you wouldn't--"

it was too late. With a final swat of his paw and an unregretful blink of his eyes, the mug crashed to the ground spilling coffee all over the floor.

Eijiro glared at the furry menace. "Devil cat," he growled.

The cat blinked and leaped down from the counter only to purr and rub on Eijiro's legs with an innocent smile.

The man sighed and bent down to wipe up the coffee and pour himself another mug. "You're not leaving, are you?" he asked as he stroked the cat's soft fur.

The cat stared at him.

"Fine," Eijiro surrendered and he jabbed a thumb in the direction of the couch. "You can sleep over there. Theres an open window since I dont have a stupid litter box. Feel free to use All Might's garden." He yawned and finished his cup of coffee as the cat trotted out of the kitchen to explore his new home. Uttering a final curse against the homicidal kitchen chair, he stumbled back down the hallway to his bedroom. His eyes widened.

"No!" he screamed in frustration. "No that's my bed!"

The fat tabby cat looked up at him, eyes only partially open, and meowed as he laid in the center of Eijiro's bed.

Clenching his fists and muttering colorful words under his breath, he crawled under the covers and struggled to fit himself onto the mattress without being pushed off by the cat. After several minutes of struggling and wrestling with the cat to regain control of his blankets, he switched off the lights and resumed his task of staring at the ceiling.

Sleep.

Just go to sleep.

The ceiling isn't going anywhere.

"Mrow?" the cat broke the silence as he climbed onto Eijiro's chest and stared at him.

Eijiro glared back, spitting out a mouthful of fur. "Go back to bed," he ordered the feline.

The cat curled up on his bare chest and smiled, content. His chest started to rumble with purring as he stretched out on his human mattress and fell asleep.

Eijiro yawned as the cat's warm fur brushed against his bare chest and his rumbling purring calmed his racing mind. His eyes drifted closed and a smile graced his lips. Wrapping his arms around the cat's furry body, he finally drifted off to sleep.
